Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “My parents decided to switch to a tankless water heater. We have a medium-sized household, and the high output easily keeps up with showers, laundry, and the kitchen running at the same time. The water heats up fast and stays consistent. There are no more sudden cold bursts like we used to get with our old tank system. The smart digital display is one of my favorite parts. It’s super easy to read and lets you adjust the temperature with precision, which makes a big difference when you want comfort but also don’t want to waste energy. It’s compact and sleek too. The space gray finish looks really modern and doesn’t take up much room. Installation was straightforward, and once it was hooked up, it worked perfectly right out of the gate. What really surprised me is how quiet and efficient it is. You barely notice it’s running, and it feels like a big step up in both performance and style. If you’re tired of running out of hot water or just want to make your home more energy efficient, this one is totally worth the upgrade.”
Customer Review: “This water heater is great value for the price. It’s relatively easy to install, gets the water nice and hot, has easy controls, but what I’m really impressed with was the customer service. I ordered one and shortly after installing it had a faulty flow sensor valve. I contacted the seller and they were very understanding and sent me a full replacement. Great experience overall.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “This is my fifth unit and my first using with propane gas. I have installed and used four other units with natural gas in my work place and thought of installing one for my house. I works very well, better than expected. I did notice I had to install a check valve on the inlet water line to avoid sudden starts when a faucet is closed quickly causing water hammer. The factory water temperature is perfect at 120 degrees. I did try higher but it was too hot. No change if flow rate from the electric water heater, but a huge change in the electric bill. This unit will pay for it self in a very short time. This unit is mounted outdoors with the controller mounted inside. The installation was very easy and has worked very well from the start. Much shorter delay in the hot water to the faucets and shower.”
Customer Review: “Code 11 none stop from the box. Some times it works but would throw code 11 if it sits idle. Never had this problem with any of the Rinnai water heater”

Customer Review: “Installation as long as it is done following the manual. Quiet, efficient and easy to setup. To have good water pressure, use an expansion tank with a pressure regulator, this way it keeps the line with adequate and constant pressure and does not damage the machine.well built and compact compared to conventional boilers.Hot water quickly even from distant taps. I noticed a strong smell of gas in the exhaust, which is fair to say it has 93% efficiency.Place the exhaust away from areas where you usually relax.”
Customer Review: “The media could not be loaded. Definitely want to install the Rheem reculation pump when installing this unit.Installation is somewhat complicated, not something I would do as a 1 day project. Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “Great unit but hit or miss. Bought original and it worked great until it froze during a recent cold snap. The new one lasted maybe an hour. It turned on fine and suddenly caught FIRE!!! Be careful of where you install and leaving the unit unattended for extended periods of time.”
Customer Review: “I enjoyed the water heater while it was functioning. It took a while to dial in the controls(which were labeled backwards), but once everything was set, it ran well and consistently. I ran the unit conservatively and it was surprisingly efficient.During the last week that the unit was functioning it began to turn on and off intermittently during use. Finally the unit ceased to turn on at all. I replaced the batteries, tested the propane tank separate from the unit(functioned as normal), and did basic troubleshooting of the unit itself with no success. The unit was supplied with 60psi, potable city/county tap water. I live in Hawaii and the unit never went through any weather extremes. I’m typically happy to repair all my own things without pestering the manufacturer but under these circumstances I didn’t want to void a potential warranty because the unit didn’t look easily serviceable. I suspect the unit has a water flow sensor that failed. I’ve had it for less than a year and only installed it about 6 months ago. In that time I used about 30 pounds of propane before the unit failed.I can’t seem to find anyway to contact the seller/manufacturer about warranty. If the seller contacts me to help resolve the failed unit I will adjust my review accordingly. As it stands I will only rate it 1-star as the unit should have lasted for more than 6 months, and 30 pounds of propane, use.”

Customer Review: “Great unit that works well above my needs (1 bath trailer house) I was sceptical for the price but have been very happy with it after 2 weeks of use, showers stay hot and consistent, handles all washing machine needs, runs 20 minutes continuously with a 1 minute recovery in between. On the longer sections of pipe the recovery is almost un noticable during use. Installation was simple and straight forward, and allowed me to condense my water heater cabinet for more floor space in the house. Would definitely recommend for trailer house/ small family home applications”
Customer Review: “Im updating my review 2nd timeThe Drain valve at the water inlet does not have a hose supplied. So, a small bucket needs to be placed below for draining. There is a more critical issue: this unit does not have any safety certificate or marking. The vendor said they have a Chinese certificate. That’s not acceptable in the USA. Any item that plugs into the wall power outlet needs to have a UL, csa, ce, marks etc. And a safety certificate available. The fire Marshall and Insurance companies will not accept an UnCertified product installed in the home.Amazon should check into this before allowing a listing.First thing to know is The user Manual is quite incomplete. The vendor has missed our several details.Do they know that this is SUPER CRITICAL item and should have complete documentation with proper installation DRAWINGS. Explaining IN CHINESE ENGLISH is not going to work.Easy to install. Works great. The gas line supplied with the heater is not a Flare, which won’t connect to a normal gas outlet. Get an adapter Flare to FIP.One thing to know: the minimum flow rate to activate the burner is a kinda limitation: if you turn on the Hot faucet in sink, it likely won’t trigger the burner and you won’t get hot water ever. This item as a Central water heater won’t work well. But as a local heater close to the shower it will do great.I gave a gas powered laundry close to the Master bath. This will fit will there. It can trigger by shower or laundry instantly. And Gas, water lines and 110V outlet are available there. For Central water, the Tank system is still better. It does take a long time to get hot water in every faucet EVEN after installing a recirculation pump. There’s no perfect solution.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Gas Instant Water Heater
Choosing the best gas instant water heater can feel a bit overwhelming, but with the right information, you’ll feel confident in your decision. We’ve broken down the crucial factors we consider when evaluating these fantastic appliances to help you find the perfect match for your home.
Essential Factors We Consider
When you’re looking for a gas instant water heater, think about your household’s unique needs. First, consider the GPM (Gallons Per Minute). This tells you how much hot water the unit can produce at a given temperature rise. A larger household with multiple bathrooms will need a higher GPM (6-9+ GPM) to support simultaneous showers, dishwashing, and laundry. Smaller homes or apartments might do perfectly fine with 3-5 GPM. Next, the BTU (British Thermal Unit) rating indicates the heater’s power; higher BTUs generally mean faster heating. You’ll also need to decide on the fuel type: whether you need a natural gas hot water heater or a liquid propane model. These units are typically designed for one or the other, so make sure it matches your home’s setup. Lastly, decide between an indoor or outdoor installation based on your available space and climate. Indoor units require proper venting, while outdoor models need to be weather-resistant and accessible for maintenance. If you’re concerned about water quality affecting your unit, you might want to consider a water softener for your tankless water heater to extend its lifespan.
Budget Planning
While the initial cost of a gas instant water heater might be higher than a traditional tank model, remember to factor in installation costs and long-term energy savings. High-efficiency condensing models, for example, can have a higher upfront price but offer significant savings on your utility bills over time. It’s an investment that often pays for itself through reduced natural gas or propane consumption. Always get quotes for professional installation, as improper setup can lead to safety issues and void warranties. Think of it as investing in consistent comfort and lower monthly expenses.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, the best gas instant water heater for you will be one that seamlessly integrates into your home, providing endless hot water efficiently and reliably. By considering your GPM needs, fuel type, installation preferences, and budget, you can narrow down the choices and find a unit that brings comfort and convenience to your daily life.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does a gas instant water heater work?
A: A gas instant water heater, also known as a tankless water heater, heats water only when you need it. When you turn on a hot water tap, cold water flows into the unit, where a gas burner quickly heats it as it passes through a heat exchanger. This on-demand heating eliminates the need for a storage tank, providing continuous hot water and saving energy by not constantly heating water. This is why many refer to them as the best gas on-demand water heater systems.
Q: What GPM (Gallons Per Minute) do I need for my home?
A: The GPM you need depends on your household size and how many hot water fixtures you typically use simultaneously. For a small home with one or two users, 3-5 GPM might suffice. A medium-sized home with 2-3 bathrooms often requires 5-7 GPM. Larger homes with multiple bathrooms and high demand (e.g., two showers and a dishwasher running at once) may need 7-10+ GPM. It’s crucial to assess your peak hot water usage to choose an adequately sized unit.
Q: Is professional installation required for a gas instant water heater?
A: Yes, professional installation is highly recommended, and often required by local codes and manufacturer warranties, for any gas instant water heater. This is because it involves working with gas lines, water lines, and proper venting, which can be complex and dangerous if not handled correctly. A qualified technician ensures safety, optimal performance, and adherence to all building regulations.
Q: Are gas instant water heaters energy-efficient?
A: Yes, gas instant water heaters are generally more energy-efficient than traditional tank water heaters. Because they only heat water on demand, they avoid the “standby loss” associated with tank heaters, which constantly re-heat water even when it’s not being used. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills over time.
Q: What’s the difference between natural gas and propane models?
A: The main difference lies in the fuel source. Natural gas water heaters connect to your home’s natural gas line provided by a utility company. Propane water heaters (also known as liquid propane or LP) use propane stored in a tank on your property. Units are typically designed for one fuel type and are not easily or safely convertible without specific kits and professional modifications.
