Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “I plumbed this filter housing in and put a filter in it. I used brass fittings and went directly to PEX. No leaks and it was very easy to install.Immediately, I saw some black specks caught in the filter. None were larger than 2mm but there were a few. By day three, there were a lot more specks and I thought I could see a little yellowing of the filter. I am in it less than 2 months and the color is almost as dark as the OSB board that is on the wall behind it.I know that the municipal workers try their best and they do an awesome job with the huge systems they maintain. But pipes get old and you cannot help but get some dirt in the lines here and there.I would definitely recommend that everyone get one of these and use it. It functions very well and your peace of mind knowing you are getting cleaner water has to account for something. It will also help your other filters, ice maker, tap water, etc. last much longer.”
Customer Review: “Very good item. Large in size. Clear cover so its easy to see the filter.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “Installation: Slid in like it was born to be there. I didn’t need a wrench, a prayer, or a YouTube tutorial narrated by a guy named Randy. Just popped it in and felt like a certified water wizard.Compatibility: This thing fits more models than a Hollywood casting call. GE, Culligan, Pentek—if your house has a filter system and a dream, this cartridge probably fits it. I half expected it to work in my toaster.Performance: My tap water used to taste like it had unresolved trauma. Now? Crisp. Clean. Like a mountain stream that’s been emotionally validated. It filters sediment, chlorine, and whatever mysterious floaty bits were haunting my ice cubes.Durability: Two-pack means I’ve got backup. One for now, one for the inevitable moment when I forget I own a water filter and panic during a dinner party. These things last, and they don’t complain. Unlike my houseplants. How long each filter lasts is entirely dependent on the quality of your water supply, mine typically last three months, unless they had a line break and dirt got in the pipe, then I see real quick that happened, and I wat a week or so and change it.Carbon & Sediment Removal: Five microns of pure judgment. It doesn’t just filter—it purifies with quiet authority. My shower no longer smells like a municipal swimming pool, and my coffee tastes like it graduated from a better school.Final Verdict: If your water’s been tasting like it came from the bottom of a medieval moat, this is your redemption arc. Easy install, broad compatibility, and the kind of filtration that makes you want to host a tasting party for your tap.Buy it. Install it. Watch your water go from “WTH?” to “might bottle this and sell it at a farmer’s market.””
Customer Review: “I have been using these filters for about one year, I have hard treated city water, but it still has chlorine and rust that is totally filtered out. I put this filter ahead of my water softener and all of our water in the house tastes like bottled water. Our family has stainless tumblers and we have almost totally eliminated bottled water. The main reason I installed a whole house filter system is to remove the chlorine, this filter totally did that. The price is reasonable, and the performance is excellent.I change the filter out every 4 to 5 months.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “This is a great filter! It is durable and super easy to clean, plus the bottom clean-out valve has also been handy for bleeding down the system when we need to work on other plumbing (an unexpected bonus). You do need to put some thought into your water conditions before selecting a filtration size though, or you can run into trouble as we did initially. I-Spring technical support helped us work through our issues (Thanks Sean!), but a picture of our filtration set-up and a brief description of the water situation are included below in case you want to learn from our mistakes (prior to making your own original ones :-).Our well water is high in iron, so we needed to install an iron filter [big black tank] to protect the plumbing and hot water heater. The very expensive iron filter required a minimum of 30 micron sediment filtration on water going in (or warranty void and {very expensive} filter life could go from 3+ years to a few months). Our well is screened in a fine sand, and tends to produce more than we would like. So we installed a high volume sediment filter [blue] with the disposable paper filters (5 – 30 microns) that have to be replaced periodically. Those paper filters, like everything now days, cost more than you would like. The better the water coming in, the longer they last, so we installed the I-spring spin-down filter [far right] to help stretch the life of those paper filters. We went with the 50 micron filter, thinking that would maximize the life on the disposable filters. Turns out that was a bad choice. Our well produced 10 gpm at the pump when it was installed last summer, but when we turned on the house system (all new construction) two months later, we were getting much less. We were afraid the well capacity had diminished due to the drought this summer, but testing with the pump and pressure tank showed it was making significantly more than what we were getting at the house. It turned out that the problem was that 50 micron spin-down filter. The amount of sand coming from our well was too much for that fine of filter, so the system lost a lot of water pressure forcing it though. After consulting with I-spring, we are now running a 200 micron mesh in the spin-down filter. It is still doing the job of removing most of the sand, but we are getting double the flow. Moral of the story, be sure to select the right size filter for your water conditions. If you aren’t sure, buy a couple of different sizes and test them out. We have mesh screens for 50, 100 and 200 microns now, and they all work in the same unit case.”
Customer Review: “Great product, installed easily with SharkBite fittings. Clear housing to monitor sediment build-up. I used this along with my new iSpring WGB32BM whole house water system. The for mentioned system doesn’t have the red pressure relief buttons, so this WSP-50 spin-down filter works perfect for releasing pressure for breaking the system down for servicing.I did have water pressure and volume issues after system install. After several days of troubleshooting I contacted customer support. Nick at iSpring Water Systems is a genius! He knew what the problem was instantly. The WSP-50 micron was to restricting for my well water system. Nick instructed me to remove the 50 micron filter and “Voila” pressure issue resolved! Nick subsequently offered to send me a 100 and 200 micron filter replacement. Over all, this is a great product and works well with the WGB32BM system, just make sure you have the water volume/pressure for the 50 micron filter. Furthermore, I cant say enough great things about Nick and his customer support at iSpring Water Systems.Update August 6, 2020.Nick at iSpring water systems sent me a 200 µm filter and after installation I had great water pressure/volume in the house as if there was no filter at all. This is a great product and thanks to Nick for great customer service.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “Like most people, we purchased this to clean up our local water. We live in a water district that gets it’s water from a series of wells. It’s mostly acceptable water, but every once and a while we would see a noticeable color change in the water for a day or two – a yellowish tint. The water district said there was no issue, but we were concerned what quality of water we were actually getting. We also have an on demand hot water heater. They are more prone to develop scale from poor water supply. The filter system installation was straightforward and easy. It is bigger than you might imagine, so measure to make sure that you’ll have the wall space required. We immediately noticed a difference in our water quality. The clarity of the water in our bath was noticeable. It almost felt like we had installed a water softener. The replacement filters are easy to replace. Watch for them on sale to save yourself a few dollars.High quality and a noticeable difference!”
Customer Review: “I am absolutely thrilled with both the iSpring product and the outstanding customer support provided by Francis! After installing it by myself, I encountered a minor leak. Despite my best efforts, there was a slight water leak in three separate places. #1 is fixed with a slight tightening, but #2 (the other side) and #3 did not stop. I reached out to iSpring’s support, and Francis stepped in to assist me. His response was not only prompt but incredibly detailed and helpful. Following his instructions, I applied O-ring grease, which stopped the leak at #3. Although it didn’t completely stop the leak at #2, it did help reduce it.That is when Francis quickly arranged for replacement parts to be sent to me. He provided a tracking number and kept me updated throughout the process. The replacement arrived swiftly, and I am happy to report that the system is now working perfectly. The leak has been resolved, and the system is performing flawlessly.Whenever we experience heavy rain or a series of rainy days, the water in our city often turns brown for several hours, sometimes even longer. During these times, the city sends out water quality warning text messages. Residents in our subdivision are advised to flush their taps until the water runs clear again, as recommended by the city. After installing the iSpring filter, we had three days of rain, yet the water inside our house remained clear. However, the water in our garden, which is not filtered through the iSpring system, was as brown as usual. The product itself is top-notch, and Francis’s support was the cherry on top. His dedication to resolving my issue and his detailed instructions made a potentially stressful situation smooth and straightforward.Thank you iSpring and Francis for both their excellent products and their exceptional customer service.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “I\’ve tried several different whole house water filter systems and this is by far my favorite. To keep this short I\’ll give you a quick overview. A lot of these systems leak it\’s one of the most common problems. The weak point is the connection ports. To fix that problem on this system they use brass threads which is strong and prevents cracks and leaks. The second common problem is reduced flow rates over time. This system can flow up to 15 GPM which is higher than most. This allows for the system over time to keep filtering and not have a noticeable reduction in pressure or flow. That also saves money in filter changes. My water quality with this system and paired with the HQUA UV filter is incredible! No smells, bad tastes or anything floating in the water. After having a water test I\’ve removed all the problems and now my water is in spec with state guidelines. The best part is it tastes great and I know my family is safe drinking it.Features:High Flow Quality Filters: The most important thing is obviously the filters. This system uses a Sediment Filter which strips solids before they get to the second filter. The second filter GAC + KDF removes heavy metals which are common in well water and city water. The third filter will clean up odor\’s, color and the big one chlorine found in almost all city water sources.Oil Filled Pressure Gauges for each filter: These are industrial quality gauges that allow you to monitor the pressures coming out of each filter. This will tell you if you have a loss in pressure and which filter needs replacing. They thought about everything and even prewrapped the threads with Teflon tape.Filter Drains: Each filter housing has a drain at the bottom that allows you to drain sediment that can prematurely clog your filters up. You can also purge the filters under pressure to clean them off which gets you a longer filter life.Red Purge Buttons: Each filter has a red air purge button at the top to blead off air in the system.Reversable In/out flow: This system allows you to change the in/out location to make installation easier depending on your current plumbing.Extra Gaskets: The system comes with extra gaskets and even includes the silicone lubricant to save you money.Fittings: They include 3/4″ and 1″ fittings for installation so you save money again on the parts.Cleaning Brush and Wrench: This is the only kit I\’ve seen that includes a cleaning brush for the filter housings. You also get the wrench to remove the heavy duty filter housings.Instruction Manual: Large Print, Easy to Follow, Pictures, Trouble Shooting. It\’s all included in the instructions I was impressed with the attention they put into this to make it easy to understand and install this system.Customer Service: Here is one thing you may not know you need until you need it. I\’ve reached out to customer service and had an answer in less than 24 hours. HQUA stands behind their products and wants you to be happy. This is my second filter from them.”
Customer Review: “The media could not be loaded. This is a big system. Make sure you measure where you’re going to position it. The bracket for system is heavy and heavy-duty. We liked the fact that you can stop the water going to a particular filter for changing. Each filter has a drain, making changing filters easier because you’re not fighting with water. It has gauges which makes it easy to see if one or all of the filters need to be changed. It’s also nice that they included a cleaning brush for cleaning the housing. The appearance is really clean and the color is exactly as pictured. There is no smell and the functionality is fantastic. If you’re looking for whole home filtration system this is one to consider. We did initially have some leaks, but when we lessened the plumbers’ tape on the threads, it solved the issue. We have high water pressure, around 100 psi, so that can also make a difference. Highly Recommend.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “This whole house filter system is a God send. Our water had a nasty sulfer smell with it rated as non drinkable. With this system our water is rated drinkable, the smell is gone and our clothes are cleaner. Very clear and concise directions and an easy install. The system comes with 2 extra sets of filters. Value is well worth the money. Has been working fantastic, taste of the water is very good and we do not have tro buy bottled water anymore.”
Customer Review: “This a great system for my small cabin. It seems well made, is easy to replace the filters, or shut water off. The extra filters included are really nice. This is good enough to clear the main things from my water, and provide better water for my washing machine and showering. I still filter otherwise for drinking water because I’m on well water that has sulfate, but the water is definitely clearer.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Whole House Water Filter For Sediment
Essential Factors We Consider
When searching for the best whole house water filter for sediment, several key factors come into play. First, consider the micron rating. This tells you the size of particles the filter can capture. Lower micron ratings (like 5 or 1 micron) mean finer filtration, ideal for very cloudy water or protecting sensitive appliances. Higher ratings (like 20 or 50 micron) are great for pre-filtration, removing larger debris and extending the life of subsequent finer filters. We also look at the filter capacity and lifespan. A higher gallon capacity means less frequent replacements, which is a huge convenience. The physical size of the filter (e.g., 10×2.5″ vs. 10×4.5″ “Big Blue”) is crucial for compatibility with your existing housing or plumbing setup. Flow rate, measured in GPM (gallons per minute), is also vital; you want a system that won’t cause a noticeable drop in your home’s water pressure.
Budget Planning
Budgeting for a whole house sediment filter involves more than just the initial purchase price. Think about the ongoing costs of replacement cartridges. Some systems offer reusable, flushable filters, which can save a lot of money over time, while others come in multi-packs, offering better value per cartridge. Consider the cost-effectiveness of a system that combines sediment removal with other filtration types (like carbon for taste/odor) if your water issues are more complex. While a more expensive initial investment might deter some, remember that a good sediment filter protects costly appliances like water heaters and dishwashers, potentially saving you money on repairs and extending their lifespan.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the best whole house water filter for sediment is a practical step towards better water quality and plumbing health. By focusing on the right micron rating for your needs, understanding filter capacity, and considering both initial and ongoing costs, you can make an informed decision. Don’t underestimate the impact a simple sediment filter can have on the clarity, taste, and overall quality of the water running through your home. It’s a small investment with big returns in comfort and protection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a whole house water filter for sediment?
A: A whole house water filter for sediment is installed at your home’s main water line, typically where water enters your house. Its primary job is to physically remove suspended particles like sand, silt, rust, and dirt from all the water used in your home before it reaches your faucets, showers, and appliances.
Q: Why do I need a sediment filter if I have city water?
A: Even if you have city water, sediment can still be an issue. Old pipes in municipal systems can shed rust and other debris. Sediment filters help to remove these particles, improving water clarity, protecting your plumbing, and extending the life of other water treatment systems you might have, such as water softeners.
Q: How often should I change my sediment filter?
A: The frequency of changing your sediment filter depends on the water quality in your area and your household’s water usage. Generally, it’s recommended to change them every 3 to 6 months. If you notice a drop in water pressure or visible sediment, it might be time for an earlier replacement.
Q: Can a sediment filter improve the taste of my water?
A: A dedicated sediment filter primarily removes physical particles and may not significantly improve taste or odor if those issues are caused by chemicals like chlorine or sulfur. For taste and odor improvement, you would typically need a multi-stage system that includes a carbon filter in addition to sediment removal.
Q: What micron rating should I choose for a sediment filter?
A: For general whole-house sediment filtration, a 5-micron filter is a popular choice, effectively removing most visible particles. If your water has very heavy, coarse sediment (like from a well), a 20-50 micron pre-filter might be beneficial, followed by a finer filter. For protecting specific sensitive appliances, a 1-micron filter offers ultra-fine filtration.
Investing in the best whole house water filter for sediment is a smart move for any homeowner. It’s an essential step towards enjoying clearer water, protecting your valuable appliances, and maintaining your plumbing system. Whether you opted for a simple replacement cartridge or a robust multi-stage system, you’re making a positive change for your home.
