Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Amazon invited me to review this as part of the Vine program. I am an unusual reviewer in that all three of our kids had medical alert devices for 6-9 months after birth. They were prescribed though we at times wondered if they were medically necessary. I understand this has not been rated as a medical device, but my point is that we know more about monitoring heart rate (bradycardia in our case) than many. We also looked deeply at the science involved. Now those kids are having babies, so I give this monitor an informed grandparent seal of approval.Since the time of most concern is early, there is little danger that the sensor will be removed starting out. It certainly is wise to be sure it fits snugly, but doesn’t chafe. A covering sock is also a common hack. Eventually there is every likelihood the sensor will be removed, but that may also be an indicator that the time of most concern is ending or over. Pitocin, commonly used to induce labor, can be associated with bradycardia, which does not always resolve immediately. SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) is still a risk even with the widespread practice of “safe sleeping” habits. Since it is still unexpected and unexplained, it is impossible to predict. So essentially here you have a combination of a smart watch and a monitor camera with an app that gives alerts. That is all very familiar tech these days and I’m happy to see it available for newborns and their parents. While the camera is only 2.5k, not 4k, it is point and zoom which makes that sufficient for nighttime monitoring. It does not have supplemental infrared light like some night vision cameras.I suggest starting with lots of alerts and then tailoring them to your needs as you become comfortable distinguishing between false and meaningful alarms over time. If you tend toward hypervigilance, a device like this may also allow you to make your own tweaks (in your vigilance) without disturbing your baby more than necessary. While the sock should be discarded somewhere around 9-12 months (it says it can be used up to 18 months,) the camera and the app with its alerts can continue to be used much longer (or until baby #2?!)”

Customer Review: “For any parent with a newborn the sense-U smart baby sock monitor has been a reassuring addition to our daily routine. It gives real time tracking of heart rate, sleep, trends, and movement in a way that feels both reliable and not intrusive to our little one. The sock sensor is soft, easy to slide on and seems comfortable for our baby. We love that it alerts us immediately if anything seems off, which has helped us sleep a bit easier ourselves. Its camera delivers crisp, clear video day and night, and the pan tilt zoom feature means we can check from any angle without disturbing her sleep. The app that comes with the monitoris intuitive, letting us review sleep patterns, and trends overtime – something that’s already helped us fine-tune nap and bedtime routines. What really stands out is the combination of well-made hardware and intelligence software. The alerts are timely without being overwhelming, and the video feeds stay smooth even when we’re checking in from outside the house. Set up was straightforward, it doesn’t drop connectionand the range and responsiveness of the camera have given us confidence that we won’t miss any moments. For any new parent, looking for a top end monitoring solution that goes beyond basic out of your video, this system brings peace of mind and valuable insight into our babies, health and sleep habits.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I love the Sense – U Smart sockIt give me a peace a mind while your lil one rest up (sleep)”

Customer Review: “As we get ready to welcome a new baby in our family, we have been searching for essential items that will keep the baby safe and healthy. This innovative device caught my attention because it works just like a medical-grade oxygen saturation monitor combined with a heart rate monitor, but it’s even better because it is completely wireless. Not only that, it also tracks the baby’s sleep patterns! I am a retired nurse who worked in pediatrics and the neonatal ICU, and I had never seen such a wonderful device. It has an app in which you can see real-time O2 sat and heart rate readings, and it will send you alerts if anything is abnormal. This an absolute must-vae for new parents, and for grandparents as well. Since baby has not arrived yet, I tested this device by wrapping it around my big toe while wearing my regular O2 sat sensor on my finger, and the readings were accurate. The reusable “sock” is made of soft fabric that is flexible and adjusts to the body’s shape and is secured by a velcro strap. Although pricey, this product will give us so much peace of mind when watching the baby overnight, and that is definitely worth it.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “We had an 8lb Newborn with no complications. Used this for the first couple weeks, especially at night once we got the hang of it. The felt type sock was a little loose for her tiny foot but I made it work. Definalty gave me the peace of mind I was looking for. Easily tells the sleep position, heart beat and room temp. The ad said it tells the O2 level but that feature may be turned off by the company right now (Jan 2026). Also the app was easy to use, share with family members and set up! Over all could not be happier. The price was very expensive for us, so while this is not a must have device for a new baby, if you can afford it & you are on the fence my opinion… get it.#1 I am not a first time parent but this device definitely helped me sleep more soundly. Knowing there was something more watching the baby than just me jumping up out of my sleep in a panic to look at her or a camera.#2 We don’t use every night any more but may use for babysitters or when I am busier around the house.”

Customer Review: “I bought this for my daughter and granddaughter. It fits well and provides an extra layer of security that all is well. It came with different size socks to fit through growth and they seem to be comfortable and not bother her sensitive skin. Great product, highly recommend!”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “We love this for our child with disabilities and seizures helps us know if she stops breathing at night . This device helps me get more sleep then without it and very easy to use”

Customer Review: “This monitor gives me peace of mind at night when my baby is sleeping and I can’t monitor them. I like that it gives alerts for temp, breathing and if they have rolled over or not. The inital set up process was a little confusing since it didn’t seem to want to pair right away no matter how many times I pressed the button (honestly could just be user error since i’m tired from being a new mom) but once it was set up, you just clip it on and bam you are getting monitoring. I can’t say how accurate the breathing monitor is, but it will alert if it decects no movement and the alert on the monitor itself and on your phone are pretty loud and won’t stop until you ackowledge them giving further peace of mind.my only complaint is middle of the night diaper changes – if you aren’t quick enough the alert will trigger. Which I know you can just turn the monitor off and then on again. Just something to keep in mind.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I just had my first baby and already have anxiety but was informed about SIDS right before their birth. I spent the first 2 weeks of their life getting around an hour of sleep per day because their dad got very sick as soon as we got home from the hospital and couldn’t help me take care of them, and I found myself up the entire night and day listening to their breathing or zooming in on the monitor to watch their breathing. As I became increasingly tired I started a desperate search for something to monitor her breathing. I stumbled upon the sock monitors and after doing some research I found that it was not for me, as they monitor heart rate instead of breathing, and I believe that the breathing stops a bit before the heart does which would render it useless for if the situation arises for us to have to try to save our baby in the middle of the night. Eventually I found this. I could not waitttt to see the package at my door, and immediately set it up and put it on my baby. The device and app are both super easy to use, it includes an extra clip for in case one breaks, and it’s so convenient to replace watch batteries instead of charging it. I have tested this countless times by not turning it off during diaper changes and every time the alarm has gone off, though if you either clip it to your shirt, put it in your pocket, or set it on the couch beside you it won’t go off while changing. I’ve had zero false alarms and the base even has a night mode to disable the light. For a while I was unable to get notifications to work properly on my phone (ios), the notification would pop up and the base would alarm but my phone would not make any notification sound no matter what. (I would have still heard the base alarm through the regular baby monitor if something had happened). I emailed the company and they got back to me very quickly and said they were passing the problem along to their app developers to fix the issue. Since then, there has been a software update in the app that took no time at all, and now the notifications are working for me. Unsure if it was supposed to be part of the update or just happened to fix itself or what but I’m very happy with the customer service from them. I was looking for something to just alarm me if my baby stops breathing but everything else in the app is definitely a plus and I am beyond happy I got this. I am definitely not one to write reviews but I am just so grateful for this product for allowing me to sleep and ease my stress and also monitor the room temp and baby’s temp. Sorry for the long review but I hope it helps somebody lol if you also worry a lot I couldn’t recommend this product more”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “The app works very well, we have experienced no glitches at all. The beeping sound is loud enough to hear, but “soft” enough that it can just give the back of your mind that peace that you are monitoring your baby. It is not a disruptive beep. The soft beeping sound as you sleep is more like a gentle reassurance to your subconscious that your baby is ok as you get whatever sleep you can between feedings. It is oddly relaxing to a nervous parent, when you SHOULD be relaxing. For when you need to wake up and take action, the vibration and alert goes off as expected when you remove the device and forget to shut it off, so it is definitely loud enough that it would wake a baby and parent if ever needed. The verbal notification is good too-persistent and demanding enough to get your attention, but it is not annoying as you would expect something like that to be. It’s only going to go off unnecessarily if you remove the device and forget to shut it off. It only takes a second to dismiss the alert and finish dressing baby or changing diaper. This is great for any parent who room shares (if you want to be in a separate room you will need the base station which I do not have), anyone who really needs the portability, for example of you frequently stay at hotels, you just clip the monitor on the baby and turn the app on-no complicated set up with cameras and wires and under mattress sensors. This can be used anywhere that you set baby down, as long as it is not something that moves (like swing or car seat). In that case you get temp alerts but you cannot assume the abdominal movements as the device is sensing the movement of the swing or car.Overall, this is a great, simple monitor that provides just what I need for peace of mind. I’m not looking for oxygen levels and heart rates, sleep data, etc…I really just want to not be getting up super frequently because of my paranoid need to check to see if baby is breathing and still on her back. I use it extensively. This monitor has given me exactly that-it’s letting me sleep better and “checking” for me that she’s ok. Thank you so much for such a great product for nervous parents like me!The”

Customer Review: “My baby was a NICU baby delayed coming home due to breathing apneas, so a monitor for breathing was critical for me. I received a Nanit and I purchased and Owlet. If your concern is whether or not your baby is alive, breathing, and safe – this is the monitor for you. I was so surprised as I bought this one on a whim, but it has been my lifesaver and peace of mind. This is the easiest one to use. Nanit is hard because the band is unsafe to use unless your baby sleeps with arms free – not right for a neonate with startle reflex. The owlet sock only has 15 hours of battery life, and there is always a risk of it getting dirty when you change the child’s diaper. Plus, it doesn’t mention breathing – just heart and oxygen. Neither of these are as good at also tracking if your baby is in a safe position for sleep (on back). Owlet cannot do that at all. And it is the only one getting a close reading of baby’s temperature – something I didn’t even know to worry about until he got home. And the Sense-U came to save me again. This is easy to use – clip it on the diaper. Its battery lasts FOR DAYS. When Nanit can only help you at night and Owlet can only help you so long, this thing laps them with days and days of battery life. You could travel overnight or 2-3 nights no charger and use it all day. It is also the only one I could take in the car with me when I cannot see my baby. All I needed to do was glance at my phone and see he is breathing and not overheating.Finally- in the NICU when baby has apnea, we go stimulate the baby to remind them to breathe. No other monitor will stim the baby for you – but this one does. It is not a replacement for your stim or supervision, but this one vibrates and beeps right at the baby’s navel if breathing becomes a concern. Imagine if – god forbid – you didn’t hear an alert. Well Sense-U is going to go off with a little stim for you immediately (before you can ever get there once you heard the alarm). Plus- you don’t need to go appease a base station (Owlet). This was the best sensor I bought and the one I use the most despite it never receiving the hype of competitors. If you want to know sleep quality or heart rate, get an owlet. If you want a great integrated monitor experience and your baby is sleeping arms free, get a Nanit. But if you want to enhance your monitoring of knowing baby is safe and alive – get a Sense-U.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Baby Sock Monitor

Choosing the best baby sock monitor for your little one can feel like a big decision. After all, you’re entrusting this device with crucial information about your baby’s well-being. But don’t worry, we’re here to guide you through the process, just like we would for a friend. Let’s break down the essential factors to consider to help you find the perfect fit for your family.

Essential Factors We Consider

When we evaluate baby sock monitors, we look at several key aspects to ensure they meet the highest standards of safety, usability, and effectiveness. Here’s what matters most:

  • Type of Monitoring: Some sock monitors track heart rate and oxygen levels (like Owlet), which are vital signs. Others, like certain Sense-U models, focus on breathing movement, rollover, and temperature. Consider what gives you the most peace of mind. For critical breathing concerns, a specific breathing monitor for baby might be your priority.
  • Accuracy and Reliability: It’s paramount that the readings are accurate. Look for monitors with strong user reviews regarding consistent performance. FDA-cleared devices, like some Owlet models, offer an extra layer of assurance for their clinical accuracy.
  • Alert System: How does the monitor alert you? Is it loud enough to wake you? Does it have a gentle pre-alert (like vibration) before a full alarm? Can you customize alert thresholds? An effective alert system is key to its purpose.
  • Connectivity and Range: Most modern baby sock monitors connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to your smartphone. Consider the range you need. Will you be in the next room, or do you need to check in from work? For devices that connect to your phone, check out our guide on the best baby monitor that connects to phone.
  • Comfort and Fit: The sock or sensor needs to be comfortable for your baby to wear for extended periods. Look for soft, breathable materials and adjustable sizing to accommodate growth.
  • Battery Life: This can vary significantly. Some devices require daily charging, while others, running on replaceable batteries, can last for days. Think about what fits best with your routine.
  • Additional Features: Do you want integrated video with a camera? Sleep tracking analytics? Twin monitoring capabilities? These extra features can enhance the overall monitoring experience, making it a truly smart baby monitor system.

Budget Planning

Baby sock monitors come in a wide range of prices, from more budget-friendly options that focus on core features to premium bundles with all the bells and whistles. It’s important to set a realistic budget and prioritize the features that are most important to you. Sometimes, paying a bit more upfront for an FDA-cleared device or an integrated camera system might be worth the extra peace of mind. Conversely, if you only need basic movement or heart rate tracking, there are excellent, more affordable baby monitor options available.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, the best baby sock monitor is the one that provides you with the most comfort and confidence. Read reviews, compare features, and think about your specific needs. Remember, these monitors are designed to be an aid, not a replacement for parental supervision. But having that extra layer of smart monitoring can make all the difference in helping you enjoy those precious early months with your baby, knowing they’re safely watched over.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are baby sock monitors safe for newborns?

A: Yes, when used according to manufacturer instructions, baby sock monitors are generally considered safe for newborns. They are designed with soft, breathable materials to prevent discomfort and are not intended to be medical devices unless specifically FDA-cleared. Always ensure the sock fits snugly but not too tightly.

Q: Do baby sock monitors track breathing?

A: It depends on the model. Some baby sock monitors, like the Owlet Dream Sock, track pulse rate and oxygen saturation, which are indicators of cardiorespiratory function. Other monitors, like certain Sense-U models, use motion sensors to track abdominal movement, which is a direct measure of breathing. Be sure to check the specific features of the monitor you are considering.

Q: Can I use a baby sock monitor for twins?

A: Some brands, like Sense-U, offer systems that support monitoring for multiple babies, often requiring additional sensors or socks. Owlet’s system is typically designed for one baby per Base Station. If you need to monitor twins, look for models that explicitly state “twin support” or consider purchasing two separate single-baby systems.

Q: How accurate are these monitors?

A: The accuracy varies by brand and model. Devices like the FDA-cleared Owlet Dream Sock meet high standards for clinical accuracy in tracking pulse and oxygen. Other monitors provide reliable data on movement, sleep patterns, and temperature. While not medical devices, they offer valuable trends and alerts for parental awareness.

Q: What’s the difference between a sock monitor and a clip-on monitor?

A: A baby sock monitor (like Owlet) uses a soft fabric sock worn on the baby’s foot to measure vital signs like heart rate and oxygen saturation. A clip-on monitor (like Sense-U Pro) typically attaches to the baby’s diaper and measures movement, sleep position, and temperature. Both offer different types of valuable insights for parents.

Choosing the best baby sock monitor is a deeply personal decision, driven by what makes you feel most secure and informed as a parent. We hope this comprehensive guide has shed some light on the various options and features available, helping you navigate the market with confidence. Remember, the goal is always to enhance your peace of mind so you can cherish every moment with your little one.
