Customer Review: “I was looking for a blender in the US for daily smoothies and occasional chutney, pesto, hummus, or spice grinding. American blenders all have plastic jars and only single jars, so I chose this Preethi mixie for its 3 different steel jars. I’ve been satisfied for this first month of daily use.– 5 stars: For daily smoothies using frozen or fresh fruit, spinach and yogurt, I found the large jar grinds to a smooth creamy consistency whereas the middle jar leaves visible bits of spinach. The middle jar is better for chutney rather than creamy smoothies. The large jar also works great for hummus.– 5 stars: The small jar works great for masalas or coffee beans. But you need to use enough to reach the blades. It won’t work for tiny amounts.– 3 stars: This model is only 500W which is not very strong for a blender or mixie, so I thaw the chunky frozen fruit first. I find I have to run it for a long time to get things to grind fully and not leave lumps. I even sometimes set the timer for 2 or 3 minutes and stand there (because the lids don’t latch). But it does eventually grind things to a very fine or creamy consistency.– Five stars: It came with several replacement parts and a tool to loosen the bottom of the jars. I haven’t used any of those yet but I really appreciate that they came with it. With previous mixies I broke the plastic gear teeth by trying to grind jaggery chunks, and I had to take it to a dealer to replace the bottom of the jar. That was in India and cost a couple hundred rupees in 10 minutes, but would be impossible or expensive here in the US, for any model of blender/mixie.”

I expected a crude, poorly-made loud blender for the price, but was more than pleasantly surprised at the quality of it. Parts and extras are available, but I just bought the basics. One nice thing is that it can pulverize a small or reasonable amount of ice quite thoroughly and easily. I’ve had bigger, more expensive Farberware units that couldn’t handle an ice cube! One thing to be careful of is that the blades are extremely sharp and washing out the grinder cap should be done with attention and caution. Ask me how I know. Small jar can be used for grinding spices, making puree in small quantities etc. Large jar can be used for idli, dosa batters, curry prep etc. I usually run clean water after usage and wash jars same day or next day max and have not experienced any rust. Occasionally handle screws are loosened but they can be easily fixed.”

Takes around 2hr to make batter. Broke within 6 months. Converted mixer is a very bad choice.-Magic bullet – Good, but not for Indian kitchen. Need atleast 550 watt-power mixer with proper blades for Indian kitchen.-Ultra stone grinder – Excellent to make dosa and idli batter. It takes around 1hr to make batter. But its heavy, takes lot of space and hard to clean.Then, I started looking for a company-made 110V(not the converted), 550 watt-power or more mixer grinder which is easy to handle and clean as well.Well, finally I found Preethi Eco Twin Mixer Grinder. I got it from Great Elect. They delivered it within a week in a good shape. It has a warranty of one year.Parts and features are,- Basic unit has the motor.- There are two jars – 1.5 litre and 0.5 litre. Each jar has a flexi lid and dome lid. Flexi lids convert 1.5 litre jar into 1 litre jar and 0.5 jar into 0.3 litre.- 1.5 litre jar has three blades – Dry/Wet grinding blade, Mincer blade, Whipper blade. 0.5 litre jar has fixed multi purpose blade.- A stirrer- An overload protection switch beneath the basic unit, which is used to restart the mixer when it is overloaded and stops.I have been using this mixer from past 2 months on a daily basis. So far so good. Doesn’t take much space on the counter and not that heavy too. Mixer is very efficient and powerful. I make batter in bigger jar with Dry/Wet grinding blade. It takes hardly 10 min. I usually put 2 cups of soaked rice at a time. Also, its very easy to clean. I use smaller jar to make chutneys, dry powders, chilli paste etc. Even a small quantity of ingrediants can be made into a paste/powder without water. I am happy with this buy. Also, I recommend it.UPDATE:Its been over a year with Preethi mixer and still fit and running good. I use mixer atleast twice a week to grind some kind batter or chutneys or dry powders. The mixer has never stopped due to overload and the maximum load I put is 3/4 th bigger jar. But some issues,- Its noisy (Noise has not increased though, just I am mentioning it now)- Flexi lids are dangerous when making puree. The liquid spurts out around the lid . Dome lids are better- There was rust formation near blade in smaller jar. It should be kept dry. The easy way to do it is, always keep jars inverted after wash. No need to tap dry also and this prevents it from rusting.”

I finally thought maybe I should order from India since I couldn’t find anything here in the US, but due to COVID-19, there was a long waiting time. One day I came across this one. I read almost all the reviews and was a bit hesitant since some people had issues and good reviews were not long enough to get to know much about the product.I gave it a try anyway, and it came in within 12 days (a bit longer wait time). It packaged very carefully, and it was a beauty fresh out from the box and very high-quality stainless steel. It is nothing less than my Ninja kitchen system and Vitamix. I have seen some Indian brand grinders. The quality and the craftsmanship can never match up to Ninja or Vitamix. We had some Hamilton Beach products in the past I(the entry-level) but never impressed with the brand. This Professional line is top of the line when it comes to quality.When I come to the performance, we grind the spices; I have been watching many masala recipes on YouTube, making my own at home. I have learned to make some green chatni during the lockdown. A family friend of ours gave us homegrown organic turmeric roots. It grinds beautifully, it was a little hot and had to wait for a few minutes like 4 or 5 minutes to restart. But it’s turmeric root we are talking about; it is tough to grind the turmeric. I tried Ninja in the past, and it couldn’t grind it, and yes, Ninja is not a grinder, but I have been using Ninja to grind here and there in the past.I use the big jar to make smoothies; something in the blades makes the smoothies soft and even consistency like Vitamix. It is a mixture of two of my favorite blenders. I genuinely enjoy it, and there is a five-year warranty on it, and they sell the extra parts separately on their website.The functionally is there, but it also starts with just pressing one switch if you don’t want to go through all those functions. Honestly, I don’t use those functions at all. I use the power button and chose my speed, and hit start.In the end, it has become my favorite blender/grinder, and I reach for it the most. It has been part of our daily cooking.”

Customer Review: “I have been using this gadget for the last 2 months, nearly daily. In terms of blending semiliquid stuff to make fine gravy for various Indian entrees as well as shakes, it works very well like any other powerful blender but problems crop up with coarse and wet hard and dry grinding. Making various chutneys with minimum water is not as uniform and fine as other gadgets like Sumeet. If you have less than a cup or two for semi-dry and fine grinding, the results are not consistent or easy. Suppose the company would have included a small jar for waterless chilies or garlic or ginger grinding or small batches of Indian chutneys that would have been convenient or would have improved efficiency for smaller batches. Trying to repeatedly try to blend above chutneys with minimum water or soaked lentils with minimal liquid may cause the machine to overheat easily.There is adequate power in blending and mixing in a uniform manner on pre-set settings or manual as far as moderately liquid materials are concerned. Making gravies, and fruit blending for juices is very smooth and better than top-of-the-line blenders in the American market. Also, the alignment of the blender on the base could have been easier than it is. I could have returned above but the timeline to return has passed. The only reason to return is semi-dry grinding efforts are very poor and not consistent.Recently, after trying to grind wet loose chutneys, the machine started making noises and I had to shut the machine. I do not wish to reuse this. I did not expect such a poor product from Hamilton Beach.”
