Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “Works great! Finally resolved the odor problem in the bathroom. So easy to use and easy to change bags. Very happy with this purchase.”
Customer Review: “Truly an amazing solution for adult disposables. No odor whatsoever lingers in our bathroom. Drop door inside works efficiently & this slim unit fits perfectly beside our toilet for easy access. Even the foot pedal for opening the lid is positioned ideally! We love the continuous bag that is thick, hefty & holds all contents & odors so well. Cutter inside door is sharp & so convenient. I use a twist-tie to tie off the top of the bag when changing out the used portion— bcs it uses less “new” bag than tying it by itself, like I do at the bottom. Fail-safe! Terrific value. Highly recommend!”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “This diaper pail is living in 3005, and all of the others are stuck in the 2020s, lol. Seriously though, this is an absolute necessity… it’s that one baby accessory that you don’t realize you truly need until you purchase it.Other pails have fussy lids that latch shut. Some have a step lid, but even that can be kind of cumbersome when your hands are full. The Jool Baby diaper pail has a motion-sensing lid that just requires a simple hand wave to open. The CONVENIENCE. This pail comes with a pack of liners to get you started, but the thing I love the most (after the motion sensing lid, of course) is that you can use regular kitchen trash bags as liners, so you don’t have to purchase proprietary liners that are made exclusively for the brand. Because nearly every other pail on the market has its own special liners, and it gets old after a bit.Oh, did I mention the part where there are no smells? Because there are no smells. They are completely contained, and this deserves a 6th star based on that alone. This pail is lightweight, easy to set up, and is extremely aesthetically pleasing, clean-looking, and modern. Upon first glance it honestly kind of looks like a dehumidifier or a stand up speaker or noise machine, almost? It definitely doesn’t look like something that could potentially be full of dirty diapers, lol.For the price, I think this is SO worth it. Buy this for your own nursery and be at peace knowing that you have the best and most convenient pail on the market. Or gift it and know that the recipient has one less thing to struggle with while raising a little one.”
Customer Review: “This is a nice, big and tall diaper pail. There are no doubts about that. It has 2 lids, the one that opens upward, and another that opens downward. Mine did not come with ANY bags whatsoever, like the listing shows it should have. I don’t know if that was a one-off mistake, or how they are shipping now. Luckily for me, you can use plain kitchen bags in it if you like.In my experience, it looks kind of like the litter genie I use for my cat. With one lovely exception in that this has an automatic lid sensor. That makes all the difference, it makes it much easier to use…especially if dealing with a wriggling baby. It’s of fair durability, it is essentially a plastic shaft on stilts with a magic lid. It says it will hold 50 diapers and probably could do that, I agree. The question is can it block the smell of 50 diapers, especially if you are just using kitchen bags? I don’t think so and haven’t tried it to that extent just due to ick factor. I do, however, think this could give you 2-3 days break which is all I think most people are looking for. It’s a decent product, it does require 4 batteries for the automatic lid to work. I’m taking one star because I didn’t get the first set of bags as advertised, and also because it’s a little deceptive to say it can hold 50 diapers and imply it won’t smell. Maybe if you are a daycare and emptying every day, but if you only have one child you will be emptying this way sooner than 50 diapers. I also find the cost a bit high for what it is.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “The bag system is easy to use and works as expected.”
Customer Review: “Great for litter box area. Because litter pebbles get loose from scooper and can get caught in door on top, I don’t use that feature. I remove entire top lip and then scoop litter into waste bag that way. This works great, as the waste bag holds lots of used scooped litter and waste. The best benefit is that it cuts the odor at the litter box down immensely. No more smell! The waste smell stays locked in. It is easy to change the bag out too. Each bag pack lasts a very long time! Very happy with this product.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “We’ve been using the Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail since our daughter was a newborn—she’s now 16 months old. Around 14 months, we actually bought a second one and replaced our original. Not because it broke, but because we hoped a fresh start might help with odor control now that she’s eating solids and having more frequent bowel movements. What I’ve come to realize is that it’s not the diaper pail—it’s just the reality of toddler diapers. When she was younger, we could go 2-3 days without emptying it. Now, we really need to empty it daily or every other day to keep odors in check. That’s just part of the phase.Even with that, the Ubbi is excellent. The steel construction does a much better job of locking in odors compared to plastic pails we’ve tried, and the fact that you can use regular kitchen trash bags is a huge plus—no overpriced refill bags required. I’ve also started putting a small baking soda air freshener at the bottom of the pail, and that’s helped a bit too. After about a year of use with the first pail, I did notice a couple of subtle dents and a small rust mark on the exterior, but nothing that affected performance. Clearly, that didn’t stop me from buying another one!If you’re looking for a diaper pail that’s efficient, easy to use, and looks nice in the nursery, this one is still my go-to.”
Customer Review: “I use the breeze cat litter system, which has a pee pad and hard pellets. Three times a week, I bag the dirty pad and solid waste in a doggy poop bag. The trick is holding the bags until trash day. I had been using a diaper genie for about 5 years for this – a poop bag ends up about the same size and weight as a diaper – but the hinge on the pail’s lid was going out. It wasn’t great in terms of odor containment and I really hate the liners, so I decided to look into alternatives before ordering the same thing again. (To be fair, I did get my money’s worth out of that pail.) I liked this one for the simpler opening, generic bags, and metal construction. Just wow. I love it. This pail is much easier to set up and use. I can use a scented tall kitchen trash bag instead of the annoying liners. With the pail in my garage, the bag can go 3 weeks without smelling, though in summer when the garage is warmer I’ll likely drop that down to 2 weeks. (Compare to 1 week for the other brand.)”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “So simple and conventional you might think upon initial assembly you just bought a gimmick product. But no…this really works. As a fully disabled person who is bed and wheelchair bound and with very limited bathroom access, I use a bedside commode. Recently my caregiver situation changed as did use of my commode. I suddenly had to switch from a water commode solution to a dry solution. Which means the use of “one and done” commode bags. I needed a waste bag solution for very, very strong odors. And fast. After having to live with a temporary bag disposal solution that was not at all viable or effective I began researching odorless trashcans. None were suitable for the task at hand. Design needed to be right, size small, operation simple, cost reasonable. My thought went to “how to control poop odor” to who needs it, to babies, to diapers. And I was led to many choices of diaper pail. The reason I chose this one…LA Baby Magic…is its ability to accept larger waste items and deal with it effectively. Other pails I found have small openings which my used commode bags would not fit through. I’m a full sized adult male with a regular diet, so you can imagine the capacity needed. Both the accepting receptacle and inner pass through into the lower pail appeared adequate in size concerning this pail, however. And just as importantly as a disabled person I needed easy one hand operation. No lid to hold open, no foot pedal operation, no buttons or latches to operate. The single motion flip handle system of this pail fit the bill. And what do you know? This thing works very well! It accommodates all my needs as stated above and best of all eliminates odors for the most part! No fuss, muss, or mess. And I have a great sense of smell! Still…nothing really to speak of. And I keep the pail close to my bed. I wouldn’t know there are two commode bags full of poop nearby at the moment if I didn’t in fact know it. And neither would anyone else. I also spray a very strong stool deodorizer in my commode bags before and after each use. I can smell it all over my room if spayed in the air or on a surface. And its fragrance certainly easily penetrates a tied commode bag. But once in this pail? I can’t even sense that! This thing is just that good at what it does. I can’t imagine anyone would have odor issues using the pail given a choice of where to place it in a room. In my recent experience its excellent. The only time I notice a stench is when actually disposing waste in the unit. But again, it comes and goes at the flip of a lid. Not very intrusive at all. Just be sure the receptacle is centered when not in use for proper fit and seal, and all should be well. There are no rubber or plastic seals or gaskets on the pail to wear out and leak odor. Nothing to be sealed down or twisted tight. It just works. Honestly, I’m amazed. For my purposes I empty the pail every 72hrs, max. After that time odor does become apparent if not intrusively so. There are two or three commode bags full of adult fecal matter in the pail by that time so I don’t expect it to block odors forever. But even after that time it’s at 90%+ odor negation I would say. You’ll realize just how well it works when removing the bag for disposal, as opening the container of course allows odors to escape. After emptying the pail I recommend leaving it open in a well ventilated area for several minutes to air it and gently wiping the insides down with simple soap and water, or similar non chemical, non corrosive wipe. Just to keep everything fresh and hygienic. Reassemble the unit and its ready for use, good as new. Care for the pail is as simple as that. Highly recommended product.”

Customer Review: “I’ve been using this as a reusable diaper bin and it works great, however I wish the sides were square or round, not an awkward rectangle shape. The bag also sometimes gets caught whem removing.Contains smells well and I like that it essentially holds the bag open so I don’t have to touch the bag at all. It’s a good height and is just a little bit smaller than 13 gallons and much larger than the ubbi baby diaper pail (in first photo). Customer Review: “The Diaper Dekor EKO Classic Diaper Pail in white has been a wonderful addition to our nursery. I love that it’s designed with eco‑friendly materials (70% recycled content) — it feels good knowing we’re using something more sustainable without sacrificing performance. This diaper pail really helps contain smells better than traditional trash cans. The system locks in odors effectively, even on hot days, which makes diaper changes much more pleasant. The lid opens and closes easily with one hand — super helpful when you’re holding a baby in the other.Installation is simple, and the pail fits well in a nursery corner without taking up too much space. The recycled build still feels sturdy and durable, not flimsy at all.Overall, it’s a high‑quality diaper pail that’s practical, efficient, and kinder to the environment. Definitely worth the investment for any parent!”
Customer Review: “This diaper pail is a game-changer for parents looking for a convenient and odor-controlling diaper disposal system. Unlike traditional pails that require pushing down diapers manually, this one features a completely hands-free design—just step on the foot pedal, drop the diaper in, and you’re done!Pros:Odor Control: The triple-seal system does a great job of containing smells, even with frequent diaper changes.Hands-Free Operation: The foot pedal makes it easy to dispose of diapers one-handed—super helpful when holding a baby, which was a must for me while researching different pails.Refill System: Uses continuous refill liners, so you can cut and tie them at any length, reducing waste. BUT, when I ran out of liners, I used a regular trash bag and it worked until I could get more continuous liners. Works both ways which I love!Convertible: Once diaper days are over, it can be converted into a regular trash can, making it a long-term investment.Design & Colors: The sleek design and color options blend well with nursery décor.Cons:Refill Cost: While the continuous liner system is convenient, refill bags can be pricier compared to standard trash bags.Smell: When taking out a full dirty liner, the smell is rather unpleasant (to be expected), but some of the smell remains in the pail. I never smell it though unless I open the pail to deposit another diaper. **a fix for this issue—I spray essential oil odor eliminator spray into the can and liner!Final ThoughtsThe Dekor Eco Pail is a great choice for parents who want a hands-free, odor-controlling diaper pail that’s both stylish and functional. While the cost of refills can add up, the convenience and effectiveness make it worth the investment.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “My husband and I are so happy we went with this diaper pail. We have to currently empty it about 2 to 3 times a week with our 7 week old, but you don’t need special trash bags. We love that you can use regular trash bags, and we just use the same 13 gallon ones we use in our kitchen. It saves a lot of money, and when you have a newborn every penny helps. THERE IS NO ODOR and the lock feature works great. The only time we can smell the diapers is if it gets left open during a diaper change, or when replacing the bag. The bag is a little bit of a pain to remove from the pail, but it makes sense since the pail needs a tight seal to lock in the odor.”
Customer Review: “I don’t know what week old dirty diapers smell like because this thing hides the smell. It’s expensive but it gets the job done and you can use standard kitchen bags instead of expensive proprietary bags. We got a second one to make a second changing area on the 1st floor. We bought it for another couple we were expecting.”
Complete Buying Guide for Best Diaper Pail With Regular Trash Bags
Choosing the best diaper pail with regular trash bags can feel like a big decision, especially with so many options available. You want something that effectively contains odors, is easy to use, and won’t add to your ongoing expenses. This guide will walk you through the key factors to consider to ensure you pick the perfect pail for your family’s needs.
Essential Factors We Consider
When we evaluate diaper pails that use regular trash bags, several critical elements come into play. First and foremost is Odor Control. A pail needs to have robust mechanisms to seal in unpleasant smells, whether through steel construction, multiple seals, or advanced airlock systems. Plastic pails are often more affordable but can absorb odors over time, while steel pails offer superior, non-porous odor containment. Next, consider the Ease of Use. You’ll be using this pail multiple times a day, often with one hand! Look for features like hands-free operation (foot pedal or motion sensor), easy bag changing, and a wide opening for quick disposal. Capacity is another vital factor; a larger pail means fewer trips to the outdoor trash can, which is a blessing with a newborn. However, a larger capacity also means diapers sit longer, so odor control becomes even more important. Finally, Durability and Safety Features, such as childproof locks, are essential for a product that will be a fixture in your home for years.
Budget Planning
One of the biggest advantages of choosing a diaper pail with regular trash bags is the long-term savings. While some pails might have a higher initial price tag, the ability to use standard, inexpensive kitchen trash bags instead of proprietary refill cassettes can save you hundreds of dollars over the lifetime of the pail. When planning your budget, factor in not just the upfront cost, but also the recurring expense (or lack thereof) of bags. Look for brands that clearly state compatibility with standard bags. This small change in bag requirements can make a huge difference in your overall baby budget. You might even find that using best eco friendly trash bags is an added bonus for your household waste needs.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, the best diaper pail with regular trash bags is one that fits your lifestyle and budget while effectively tackling the inevitable diaper odors. By focusing on strong odor control, ease of use, appropriate capacity, and the freedom from proprietary bags, you can confidently choose a pail that makes daily diaper duty a little less daunting. Remember, a fresh-smelling nursery contributes to a happier home!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why should I choose a diaper pail that uses regular trash bags?
A: Choosing a diaper pail with regular trash bags is primarily a cost-saving and convenience decision. Proprietary refill bags can be quite expensive over time, adding up significantly throughout your child’s diapering years. Using standard trash bags means you can purchase them from any grocery store, often at a much lower price point, and you won’t be stuck if a specific brand’s refills are out of stock. It simplifies your shopping and reduces ongoing expenses.
Q: How effective are these pails at controlling odor without special bags?
A: Many modern diaper pails designed to use regular trash bags are highly effective at odor control. They achieve this through features like advanced sealing mechanisms (double seals, airtight lids), durable materials (like powder-coated steel that doesn’t absorb odors), and sometimes built-in deodorizers or charcoal filters. The pail’s design, rather than the bag itself, is often the primary factor in containing smells, making special bags less critical for odor control.
Q: What capacity should I look for in a diaper pail that uses regular bags?
A: The ideal capacity depends on your family’s needs. For a single newborn, a pail that holds 20-30 diapers might be sufficient if you empty it every 1-2 days. For multiple children, older toddlers, or adult incontinence, a larger capacity pail (e.g., 10-11 gallons or 30-50+ diapers) would be more practical to reduce emptying frequency. Remember that while a larger pail holds more, it also means diapers sit longer, emphasizing the need for robust odor control.
Q: Are diaper pails that use regular trash bags suitable for cloth diapers?
A: Yes, many diaper pails that accommodate regular trash bags can also be used for cloth diapers. For cloth diapers, you typically use a reusable wet bag inside the pail, which is then removed and washed with the diapers. Since these pails don’t require specific bag systems, they offer a flexible solution for cloth diapering. Look for pails with good airflow or ventilation if you plan to store cloth diapers for longer periods, or strong seals to contain moisture and smell effectively.
Q: How often should I empty my diaper pail?
A: The frequency of emptying depends on the pail’s capacity and the intensity of the odors. For newborns, you might get away with emptying every 2-3 days. However, once a baby starts solids, their diapers become much smellier, and daily or every-other-day emptying is often recommended, regardless of pail capacity, to maintain a fresh environment. Pails that effectively seal odors can extend this duration, but regular emptying is still key for hygiene.
Choosing the best diaper pail with regular trash bags is a smart move for any parent looking to simplify diaper disposal while keeping their home smelling fresh and their budget intact. With excellent options available that combine powerful odor control with the convenience of standard bags, you’re sure to find a pail that meets your needs.
