Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Bought these so I could hear my elderly mother if she needed help during the night. They work great and came in handy for those times when she forgot to tell me something before I left her room and I didn’t want to get back out of bed because I could talk back to her from my unit. Sound is clear and I like that I could mute mine so as not to disturb her when she was sleeping. Great purchase and easy to use.”

Customer Review: “Elderly Mother is confined to her bed, this gadget worked perfectly! We can speak to one another and hear eachother – very clear- now I know when she’s awake. Plug n play, easy set up, not complicated to use. Only regret? not thinking of it sooner! Delivery as promised, good value, have already recommended to friends!”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “This system is everything they said. I tried 2 others before finding this 1. My in-laws house is large and I need it too work while im in the guest house. 2000 feet range is perfect. The pitcher is super clear. The system was up and running right as I plugged it in. No pairing. Perfect”

Customer Review: “I’ve been using the Jartoo 2K 5.5″ Video Baby Monitor and honestly, it’s been a huge help—especially if you want something reliable without relying on WiFi. The standout feature right away is the 2K video quality. The picture is super clear compared to standard baby monitors, and even at night, the infrared night vision gives a crisp view of the baby without any graininess. It really gives peace of mind because you can actually see details clearly. The motion detection is great and picks up small motions. Durability wise, it is very durable and steardy. No WiFi = extra security I love that it doesn’t rely on WiFi. It connects directly to the monitor, so there’s no worry about hacking or connection drops. But on the flip side, you can’t check thru the phone. The connection stays strong even when moving around the house or stepping outside briefly. It’s great for larger homes. AI cry detection , This feature is surprisingly accurate. It alerts you when your baby cries without constant false alarms, which makes it feel like an extra set of ears. Large 5.5” screen. The display is big, bright, and easy to see—much better than tiny screens on other monitors. Two-way talk & white noise: Being able to talk to your baby or play soothing sounds remotely is a lifesaver, especially during naps or nighttime wake-ups. The battery easily lasts through the night and beyond, so you’re not constantly charging it.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I recently moved my 92 yr old mother in with us after she was in the hospital for a while. We gave her the first floor bedroom and bath, and my husband and I have our bedroom and offices on the top floor. I work from home, but was afraid I wouldn’t hear her if she fell or needed help during the day or night. We started with a call button, but she would set it down and forget where it was. After a long search of trying to find two way monitors, I came across these. They work great as monitors for elderly people. I purchased two sets of these monitors, as I needed one for her bed/bath and one for the kitchen/family room. My only complaint is that I wish there were an option for two room monitors. The quality is excellent. They are very sensitive and pick up even small sounds. I have one placed on her nightstand in the bedroom, and it even picks up the sound of her electric toothbrush in the adjacent bathroom. If she needs me, all she had to do is call out to me, and I can respond back and let her know I’ll be right down. The parent monitor has a rechargable battery and a belt clip so that you can carry it around with you. It stayed connected even when I took the trash out to the curb last night. Great range! The room monitor has no battery and just stays plugged in. Most of the time I just keep the parent monitors plugged in at my desk. Since they are side by side, I labeled them B and K so I immediately know which room she’s calling from. Great value for these monitors!”

Customer Review: “Our baby is 13 months old, and this monitor set is still working perfectly. It’s always been easy to use and easy to set up. The microphone is optimized to pick up bay sounds, so it filters out most of the lullaby music that we put on at bedtime, but we can still clearly hear her breathing. We took this set with us on a cruise in August, and we left the parent unit in the room with the grandparents (right next to our cabin) so that they could keep tabs on her while we went out on the ship at night. It worked beautifully between through the cabin walls. We have purchased more sets for my parents’ house and my husband’s parents’ house. We absolutely love this little, hassle-free, inexpensive monitor set!”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “This monitor system has been a trouble-free worry-remover for me. I am using it to keep track of my husband’s needs, as I care for the rest of our household, inside and out. He sleeps now in a first-floor room next to a bathroom and close to the kitchen. He gets IV nutrition for 12 hours a day and is tethered to his IV administration setup. Plus, he is weak from a month in the hospital, so he can’t do a lot for himself. We have a Linksys EA3500 Router. (Sorry, That’s all I know about the channel, frequency, whatever..) The monitor signal has to “cross” this signal and it has not caused any interference at all. The range is well capable of letting me get out in the garden or into the barn, or even across the street (through LOTS of power, cable and telephone lines.) Transmission and reception have been loud & clear at every distance. Though I haven’t tried 1000′, it is certainly completely adequate for our rambling old house and 5 acre yard and barns. I also like the fact that I talk to my husband from anywhere, to ask if he needs something, etc. Of course, I hear him if he calls out to me. NB Adults are noisier sleepers than babies, but I found that I quickly became accustomed to his “normal” nighttime noises. I quickly learned to recognize the ones I should get up for…like the IV pump bleeping, etc. So I get a pretty good night’s sleep. As for the “Parent” batteries not lasting very long…I have found that to be true. They don’t last very long…maybe 3-4 hours. But what I do is take the monitor in my bedroom in the morning as my portable monitor. Then, when it starts bleeping that the battery is going dead, I just exchange it with the monitor in our family room. If that unit’s battery starts to go, I repeat the switch. Works fine, because you get plenty of notice that the battery needs recharging. Such peace of mind PSI forgot to post this review 2 months ago when I got these monitors. This week, one of the receivers started shutting itself off. What a nuisance, and unsafe, too, because I rely on them tp get me tom husband when he needs me! I will contact the manufacturer…and I will keep you posted.”

Customer Review: “This is a very simple system that I ordered for my parents house while my son was over there and I was working night shift. As my son got older it came back to my house and was used for nap time. The sound quality is good, they are very reliable. They plug into the wall but also have the backup batteries if needed. I will say the only thing I have ever noticed in the 5 years of use is when I lived in an apartment complex it somehow picked up on someone else’s monitor and I could hear inside their apartment. I just turned it off and back on and it was fine. It also has 2 listening units and if you keep them in close range it doesn’t mess anything up, for example me and my husband each have one on our bedside tables and it doesn’t affect anything. It’s a great monitor for older toddlers.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Do you ever buy a baby monitor and you know something is going to lacking? Like you just know you are going to be sacrificing something? I’m serious when I say not with this monitor. I have tried at least five different ones from Amazon and I ended up having an issue with every single one. Here is why I was SO pleasantly surprised by this monitor: Pros: – the sound ROTATES ROOMS! Every 10/15 seconds it rotates rooms so you can hear both rooms. Most monitors you have to manually flip it and I needed a monitor I could hear both – because of the size, I can see the kids whole room. Huge plus when friends are over and we need to keep an eye on everyone – the lenses are WIDE angle!! This means in split scree mode, I can see a LOT of the room (which means I can have the whole crib or bed in view even in split screen mode). – speaking of split screen, it is a split screen!! I want to always see both my kids and this does exactly that. – easy charging. This takes USB-C and I can use my charging cables I already have. I do t need to remember a “special” cable. Huge. – it shows the time on the screen. I didn’t realize how awesome this was until I used it as a clock in the middle of the night. Now when the kids wake up I know what time it is right away. – separate volume and brightness buttons. No more hitting so so many buttons to just adjust volume. Quick and easy. – picture is incredibly clear. Actually incredibly clear. I can see my kids breathe, the out lines of their faces, and toys they left in their bed. It’s great. Overall so many things that I love and needed and never found all in one baby monitor. Couldn’t recommend it more.”

Customer Review: “Update 2/21/26: Have used it 4 months. It’s been on all day of every day. Zero issues at all. Baby’s room is on the top floor and the screen works all the way in our basement. Same with going outside to the hot tub – still works. One thing I have LOVED that I didn’t know I needed: the VOX setting (I think is what it’s called). The absolute best feature on this thing… Basically what it is is that there is no sound coming out of this device until the baby makes noise. We use white noise in her room so with a regular camera I would then hear the white noise all night on my screen. But I don’t want to hear noise unless I need to hear noise? So this device basically mutes itself until it hears the baby and then turns on. Also, previous cameras I’ve used have had the little light bar on the side that moves up and down as it hears noise…hated that thing. It’s so bright when you’re trying to sleep even if the baby’s not making noise. But there’s no light bar on this one. So for me personally, huge improvement. 10/10 recommend. You know how something seems like WAY too good to be true so you’re just waiting for it to fail? That’s where I’m at with this. I’m immediately enamored with this thing, which can only mean it won’t last or something horrible 😅 This is by FAR the best monitor I’ve fired up. I’m 3 kids in now and this thing has ALL the features I’m looking for. 1. Parent viewing device (no wifi/cloud) to ensure privacy. 2. CLEAR picture (thank you Jesus! Finally!) 3. USB-C so I can take it all over the house with me and charge it wherever I’m using all my other USB-C devices… So convenient. 4. HUGE screen so I can actually see what I’m looking at. Other bonuses – the talking feature through the microphone is weirdly clear… It sounds just like my voice. My last one was so fake sounding it scared my kid!!! The bendy arm it came with for the crib is a real value add – it actually worked and wasn’t cheap. I appreciate the flexibility (hehe) of not having to put holes in my wall. Not sure how practical it’ll be with my 1 year old since I assume she’ll happily rip it off her crib rail when she wakes in the morning. But perhaps I can attach it to something nearby. The buttons have a nice feel to them, the menu is easy to navigate and it feels like a good amount of bells and whistles without adding a bunch of fluff I don’t need. The only thing I can’t speak to is how long it will last but MAN am I praying it does because this thing is SWEET!!!!”

Customer Review: “This is really an excellent product, and at such an affordable price! In fact, these are the best baby monitors we’ve ever owned. We are on our third child, and our other set of monitors (an AngelCare set that did both audio and monitored baby’s movement in the crib) were either lost or thrown away. So we bought these when our third child was born, and these are the things that are good: Pros: 1. This monitor uses DECT 6.0. This is newer tech, and is the same technology as that in the best cordless phones. We got our first DECT 6.0 cordless phone last year, and I was very excited to find it in monitors now. Here are the reasons DECT 6.0 is great: A) Security built in, so only you hear your baby. B) Multiple communication streams from DECT 6.0 devices can be accommodated, so your monitors don’t interfere with other DECT 6.0 devices like cordless phones. I’ve had no interoperability issues with my cordless phone and my monitors. C) DECT 6.0 has been around a while in Europe and other places, but it took a long time to get approval for dedicated radio frequency spectrum here in the US. Now that the FCC has approved it, though, it is the best tech for this sort of application. Why? Other monitors use frequencies like 900 Mhz or 2.4 GHz, which are crowded with other devices like wifi, microwaves, cordless phones and other monitors. DECT 6.0 has been given the 1.9 Ghz spectrum, and nothing else but DECT 6.0 devices are allowed to use it. Interference from 802.11 b/g/n wifi, or microwave ovens? Impossible, because those use the 2.4 Ghz frequency. Interference from 802.11 a/n/ac wifi? Impossible again, because those technologies use the 5 Ghz spectrum. Old cordless phone technology? Impossible, because they typically use the 900 Mhz or 2.4 Ghz frequencies. Anyone that tells you that wifi or microwaves can interfere with these is thinking about older monitors that used to use 2.4 Ghz… it can’t happen here. Because they have their own 1.9 Ghz frequency range, these will not interfere with anything, including other DECT 6.0 devices, since DECT 6.0 allows for multiple communication streams by design. 2. Another thing that is great about these is the crystal clear audio. It is extremely easy to make out what is going on in the other room. 3. Noise cancelling is another great feature here that has made its way over from cordless phones and cell phones. Noise cancelling microphones only activate if they detect noise above a certain threshold… otherwise they are quiet. Bathroom fans, air conditioner hums, etc, do not get transmitted by these. They only activate and transmit baby crying or fussing, otherwise they transmit pure silence. Note: There may be times baby moves or makes small noises and they don’t get transmitted because they aren’t above the threshold. In my experience of using this for several weeks, I’ve never had a situation where baby actually started getting agitated and it didn’t get picked up. If baby moves his arm or sighs, you might not hear it, but do you really want to be woken up by that anyway? Personally, I only want to be woken up if he actually needs me, and I’ve found I always hear his louder awakening noises/movements/fussings, usually several minutes before he works his way up to actually issuing a cry. 4. Lack of static – these have no static whatsoever (typical for DECT 6.0). They are dead silent unless baby is crying. No static, no background noise, nothing. You can sleep with these next to you, and they will not make the slightest sound to keep you awake or wake you up, unless baby is crying or stirring, which is easily heard. 5. These have nice indicator lights, so if you mute them you can still see visually if baby is crying. However, I really don’t ever mute them because unless baby is getting pretty agitated, they don’t transmit any noise at all. 6. I haven’t tested using batteries, but each parent unit takes two standard AAA batteries, so they are easy to obtain and replace. 7. Value – A base unit and AC adapter, plus two parent units with AC adapters, built in belt clips and a very good range (they’ve worked everywhere in our 1480 sq ft house, and I’m sure they’d work outside too if we took them out there). Cons – None that I can think of. Having used multiple different models/brands of monitors for our other kids at our house and grandma’s house, I can say these are not only the best performing, but the most affordable monitors I’ve ever used. If you are looking for a basic audio monitor with no extra features like two way voice, movement monitor, or video camera, then these are the best.”

Customer Review: “These are decent baby monitor units, work very well when plugged in. I have three minor complaints however, and I think I’ve seen them here before but here’s my take: 1. One of the plug in transformers I received buzzes pretty loudly when in use. It’s a high frequency squeal, which my ears are attuned to somehow (think flyback transformer on a CRT). Since I use the transformer when I sleep, my ears end up picking up this noise and it irritates me. 2. The devices use batteries pretty quickly. I am not sure how long an alkaline would last, but I’d guess 2 nights at most if you weren’t using the transformer. This leads me on to #3: 3. For devices like this that eat batteries, I love using rechargables. I haven’t timed how long it takes for the little low battery light to come on, but it comes on fairly quick with rechargables as they have a lower initial operating voltage than alkalines. I’d say it comes on within 3 hours of use. Then, once the battery voltages drop too low, the units emit an audible beep every so often. Today, once the unit emitted the beep – I removed the batteries and did a charge. My battery charger indicates about a 500mah charge into a 900mah battery, with a starting voltage of 1.25 on both. This tells me that the unit is really tweaked to give battery warnings on alkaline only, and becomes an annoyance at best on ni-mh lsd rechargables (I’ve used both Imedeon and Tenergy in the units, both to the same conclusion.) I would really like for the ability to turn off the low battery warning and / or recalibrate it, but I understand that these are low cost units and will just live with these deficiencies. For the money, these devices really can’t be beat. For what they need to do, they do it extremely well in my opinion. I always hear my baby’s cries (or see the LED lights flash given his volume) and they’ve not let me down at all. Just be aware that if you do use the battery option, you’ll be charging or buying batteries left and right if you want to be mobile or not use the transformers included with the parent unit.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Audio Baby Monitors

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing the best audio baby monitor, several factors play a crucial role in ensuring you get the right device for your family’s needs. We always prioritize sound quality – you want to hear every breath and cry clearly, without static or interference. A wide and stable range is also vital, especially if you live in a larger home or plan to move around the house or yard while your baby sleeps. Monitors without Wi-Fi often offer more secure and consistent connections. Features like a two-way talk-back intercom are invaluable for soothing your baby without entering the nursery. Lastly, ease of use and portability for the parent unit make a big difference in daily convenience.

Budget Planning

Audio baby monitors come in a range of price points, from very basic and affordable models to more feature-rich options. Our “Best Budget” pick demonstrates that you don’t need to spend a fortune to get a reliable monitor. Determine which features are absolutely essential for you – perhaps a long range is a must-have, or maybe you only need basic monitoring for a small apartment. Prioritizing these non-negotiables will help you allocate your budget effectively. Remember, sometimes a simple, well-made audio monitor outperforms a cheap, feature-packed video one in terms of pure sound reliability.

Final Thoughts

Investing in one of the best audio baby monitors is about finding peace of mind. It’s knowing that you’ll be alerted the moment your baby needs you, whether for a feed, a diaper change, or just a comforting voice. The simplicity and security offered by audio-only monitors, especially those using DECT 6.0 technology, are often unmatched. Consider your home’s size, your lifestyle, and the features that truly matter to you, and you’ll find a monitor that keeps you connected to your little one, beautifully and reliably.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why choose an audio-only baby monitor over a video monitor?

A: Audio baby monitors are often preferred for their enhanced privacy (no video feed to hack), superior sound clarity, longer range without Wi-Fi interference, and simpler operation. They are also typically more affordable and have longer battery life.

Q: What is DECT 6.0 technology and why is it important for audio monitors?

A: DECT 6.0 stands for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications. It’s a standard for digital wireless communication that provides secure, interference-free audio transmission. This means you get crystal-clear sound from your baby with minimal background noise and a private connection that others can’t easily listen in on.

Q: How important is the range of an audio baby monitor?

A: The range is very important, especially if you have a larger home or want to move freely around your house or even into the yard while your baby sleeps. A good range ensures you stay connected without losing signal, providing consistent peace of mind. Most good audio baby monitors offer ranges of 1,000 feet or more in open spaces.

Q: Can I use an audio baby monitor for elderly care?

A: Yes, many audio baby monitors, particularly those with a two-way intercom and clear sound, are excellent for monitoring elderly family members. The two-way talk feature allows for easy communication, and the clear audio can alert you to any sounds of distress or calls for help. This is why some models are considered among the best room monitors for elderly individuals.

Q: Do audio monitors have a “VOX” mode or sound activation?

A: Many modern audio baby monitors include a VOX (Voice Operated eXchange) mode or sound activation feature. This allows the monitor to remain silent until it detects sound above a certain threshold, conserving battery life and reducing constant ambient noise, so you only hear your baby when they truly need your attention.
