Yard and leaf solution

I don’t know how it is everywhere but here in Missouri you have to pay for leaf, wood, tree and grass trimmings. It’s not crazy expensive but when you live paycheck to paycheck it does make a difference. We do not have this service so we’re always stuck raking our leaves into one big pile and mowing over them. Either that or slowly throwing them in the trash can over the course of a couple weeks so that it goes unnoticed. Pain in the rear, let me tell ya! We have big trees in our yard and the leaves are ridiculous! Here is a pic from about 2 weeks ago. And believe me when I say that this is NOTHING compared to what our yard looks like now…nothing!

leaves

While driving around town yesterday I saw a man of pure genius! This man must be in the same predicament that we are in financially or else he is just brilliantly frugal. We were driving behind him and were showered with beautiful leaves of all different shapes and colors (the picture isn’t very good because he ended up switching lanes and I couldn’t get another shot). It looked like it was raining leaves and was actually pretty cool to watch. It was then that I realized this mans genius. He raked up his leaves, piled them in the back of his truck and drove around town meanwhile loosing all the leaves, saving money and enjoying the scenery instead of packing all those leaves into bags and waiting for the leaf disposal truck to come along and take them.

I’m so doing this…oh wait…I don’t have a truck. Darn!

Oh well back to raking up leaves and mowing over them for forever until they eventually turn into mulch. *sigh*

Oh my goodness! I so need to try this…Only problem is that I have a cap on my truck now. It would have worked before I got the cap on it. I guess I’ll stick with trying to mow them up.

That’s an interesting idea but could also turn into something dangerous. One good gust of leaves could blind a driver behind him.

This is really interesting, I guess we don’t have as big a leaf problem on the OR coast as you do in Missouri, I had never heard of this before.

LMAO I just leave them. I’m lazy like that. :)
