WARNING: New Virus

comp-main_FullI don’t post all of the warnings I get for viruses but this one I think is important. With the holiday season here and loads of us sending and receiving gifts in the mail via UPS, FedX and so on please read this and pass it on. This has been confirmed by Snopes.com.

New Virus (NO JOKE)

This is legitimate. Please pass this along to your friends.

The newest virus circulating is
The UPS/FedEx/DHL Delivery Failure.

You will receive an email from UPS/Fed Ex Service along with a packet number..

It will say that they were unable to deliver
A package sent to you on such-and-such a date…

It then asks you to print out
The invoice copy attached.

DON’T TRY TO PRINT THIS.
IT LAUNCHES THE VIRUS!

Pass this warning on to all your PC operators
At work and home.

This virus has caused Millions of dollars
In damage in the past few days

Snopes confirms that it is real.

I got one of those! I didn’t open it though (thankfully!) What I did do was look over the email and a few things stuck out to me.
First, no tracking number or FedEx logos
    Second, no contact phone numbers
Third, the reply to email address was not @fedex.com
So into the spam folder it went!

Thank you for posting this though!

    Thanks for the info, Steph…
I got one like this earlier this year…
but it had a # in it, and it said it was a refund from odd years back… which we did have a claim on .. but it struck me weird, so I looked up UPS corporate email & asked them… it took a while & it went through their legal dept. it was phony, bogus.. so I am glad I relied on my gut!
It did ask for some personal data… so this may be a different one… mine was after to steal info.

Oh, and we still never got the refund either , Ha!

Thank you for the heads up! How horrible! :(
