Small Talk Six this week is ’6 pieces of advice that you think are obvious, but some people just need to hear.‘ You can answer this in a list of 6 words, phrases, sentences, videos, paragraphs, photos, etc.
*One thing to remember with this weeks STS is that everyone has their own opinions and rights to them. So please when you’re visiting other STS posts be open, don’t take offense right off the bat and be respectful of other people’s opinions. Thanks!
My six are:
1) If you can’t say anything nice…don’t say anything at all! Treat others the way YOU want to be treated! It’s really not that hard!
2) When you say something to your kids (discipline-wise) FOLLOW THROUGH!
3) Drive safely! Please don’t be an idiot on the road. You may not have precious cargo in your car but other people do in theirs!
4) I don’t want to listen to your music or bump to it when I’m in MY car! TURN DOWN YOUR SOUND SYSTEM!
5) When you say you’re going to do something for someone…do it! Don’t leave them hanging!
6)Being rich, skinny, gorgeous, popular, loud, obnoxious, greedy and show-offy doesn’t make you cool! Being nice, friendly, smart, giving and yourself makes you cool! Stop showing off…it’s not classy!

I completely agree with number 2. Great list.
OMG, the driving one really hits home. I just watched someone stop dead in front of a UPS truck this morning then cut over 3 lanes to the left turn lane because they realized at the last minute they needed to turn at that road. I don’t know why they can’t do what most people do and say “Aw crap.” and turn around at the next road.
Amen.
Fabulous list. Love the music one, could we add one about loud mufflers?
No. 5 is one of my pet peeves. When we have barbecues or other get togethers and people ask what they can bring I always say nothing because half the time they don’t end up bringing what they say they will and suddenly you have burgers and no buns or something like that.
Good common sense list here.
oohhh…yeah. That discipline one. I hear parents saying “no no no no no no no” a thousand times but the never do anything about it. Ugh!

#1 and 2 are big one around here too. I hate seeing people not follow through on discipline, the kids don’t learn anything that way.
