I do have a friend that does amazing work all by himself; not for a living but for a hobby. But he is busy redoing his aunts house for her. Plus we really do need to save the money first and then buy it and not finance it. I think I'd do ok doing it by myself, I love doing projects like that but I would want someone to start it with me so I could get the hang of it. KWIM? Meaning you pay them cash at a much lower rate. But the downside is you still don't have the warranty. We decided to cancel our order and wait. We're going to save some money so that we can pay for it in full instead. :( It was a hard choice but the economy is so tough right now! My husband is in the process of laying oak wood flooring throughout our house. It doesn't look hard :D, but I know the waiting for completion is hard. I'm thankful that he knows how to do it because labor prices are a killer. All I have to do is cook, clean the house, take care of the kids, etc. but I can afford. I prefer wood floors. We've had tile/slate and wood. I like carpet, but don't prefer it in my home because of all of the "stuff" it captures. I have never laid any floor. My husband is in the process of laying oak wood flooring throughout our house. It doesn’t look hard :D , but I know the waiting for completion is hard. I’m thankful that he knows how to do it because labor prices are a killer. All I have to do is cook, clean the house, take care of the kids, etc. but I can afford.

I prefer wood floors. We’ve had tile/slate and wood. I like carpet, but don’t prefer it in my home because of all of the “stuff” it captures.

But it's a major PIA to keep clean because you can't use mops or any water on it, pretty much only leaves you with a swiffer. I hope you guys know what you're doing with the install though. We paid to have ours installed for us because the flooring seperates and buckles in the first year and we needed that one year warranty on install for them to come back out and fix it.
