Hot out of the oven…get your Krispy Kreme donuts! And now while you wait you can get your flu shot!
Seriously!
I made an appointment today to go ahead and get my kids their flu shots (not the H1N1) and this morning my mom calls and asks me if I’m going to get one as well. Hmm…I hate needles. I hate shots. I hate doctors offices. Sooo…um yeah, NO! This is how the conversation went.
Mom: Are you going to get your flu shot?
Me: Yeah, I don’t think so.
Mom: Well ya know if you want you can just stop by Krispy Kreme and get your flu shot through the drive through while you wait for some donuts.
Me: WTF? Are you kidding me? I don’t eat donuts and would never get a vaccination at a fast food place. *gag*
Mom: They have RNs there so while you’re in the drive through line you can just make your copay, put your arm out the window and get your shot. It would be great because you wouldn’t have to take all three kids in to an office with you.
Me: Mom, you know I’m totally blogging this rediculousness right?
Mom: sigh
Ok so first off, America is one of the fattest countries in the world. Is Krispy Kreme really hurting that much that someone thought, ‘Hey, Americans are fat and eat donuts! Let’s make it easier for people to get donuts, a larger ass and a flu shot all at the same time.‘ Does this sound sanitary to anyone? Not to me. This reminds me of one of Trisha’s Only In Alabama posts except it’s here…in Missouri and more than likely a lot of other states too.
This is how I imagine the conversation going at the drive up.
Kripsy Employee: Hello, (crackle crackle) what can I get for you today?
Me: Ummm…I’ll take a dozen of your glazed donuts and a diet coke. (Hey, you have to save on the caleries some where right?)
Krispy Employee: Would you like a shot of a live virus with that?
Me: Whhhat? Um..sure, I guess.
Drive up to the window.
RN comes to the window fresh, hot, right out of the oven donut in hand and glazed icing on her face.
RN:I need that there insurance card, ma’am. And your copay please.
Me: Here ya go.
She rubs my arm down with a chocolate glazed alcohol wipe.
RN: Now just stick that there arm out your window. This may sting a little…it’s my first day. (wink wink) If you be really good ma’am you can have a cartoon band-aid of your choice and your donuts when I’m done here. Now hold still…oh here, ma’am can you hold my donut please?
Me: OMG! I think I’ve changed my mind. Keep my donuts! I’m outa here!!!
So I guess if you’re a major donut eater and go to Krispy Kreme a lot then this might work for you. But I don’t eat donuts so for me…I think I’ll take my chances on going to an office even though I hate them and getting a clean, sterilized, glazed free vaccination, thankyousomuch. Or better yet Walgreens now has a clinic, maybe I’ll go there.
Have you heard of this? Would you do it? Why wouldn’t they just make some drive up clinics instead? Is it really necessary, sanitary and safe to get your vaccination at a drive through?
This makes me want to sing! ‘Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down….’

That’s insane…we have flu shots available at Walgreens (a drug store) but a donut shop?…I guess all the cops will be vaccinated. lol
That’s just wrong. But, I do wish there was a Krispy Kreme around here. So freaking good!
OMG, last time I didn’t get my flu shot at the doc’s & got it from a pharmacy I got septis – so never again!
