Remember in this post when I told you how I thought my son was picking up bad language from the radio and the music we tend to listen to? Well I really did think that’s what it was….boy was I wrong. Well…at least 1/2 wrong.
About a year ago my sister gave our son a Spider Man DVD. He was ecstatic!!! He totally hearts Spidey! I could really take him or leave him (no, not my son…Spider Man) so I never watched it with him. He used to watch it in my bedroom while the baby was still asleep and I did laundry, blogging or whatever; that was his quiet time…ok mine too. Well the other day my husband and I were letting him watch it in our bedroom while we all got ready for a busy day of errands. We were talking, he was being quiet watching Peter Parker and then we heard it…”damn…ass…shit….” you pretty much name it. Well minus the f bomb there was language all through this CARTOON movie! What in the world? I couldn’t believe my ears! I never really understood where he got the word ‘asshole’ and knew it couldn’t be from the radio so I figured I must have slipped one day in the car because you know I hate bad, idiot drivers. Here I was blaming myself and come to find out it was never me at all…it was the “CARTOON”. I was livid!!! Who would sell a ”kid movie/cartoon” with bad language in it? WTH…opps…I mean, what the heck were they thinking? And to make it worse when I really got down to searching on the back for a rating there was none. There was only a small, and when I say small I mean snatch out the magnifying glass small, caption on the back that said something about language and violence.
Needless to say the DVD is gone…in the trash…broken…adios….asta la vista baby…GONE! Of course my son was crushed because it was his favorite movie. Guess I’ll have to find another one and make sure to bring my magnifying glass in my purse so I can search on the back for any captions of language and/or viloence. But seriously, who makes cartoons with bad words in them?
