Being of Native American decent, Indian ruins are something that I’m very interested in. Last week my mom told me that they have found some Indian ruins in our area and that there are archaeologists digging to find more. This is something I had to see for myself. We went out there today to check it out and my mom brought some of her arrow heads that she has been collecting her entire life to show to them and get info on.
So far they have found some animal bones that were carved into decorative pieces, arrowheads, pieces of pots and ‘kichenware’, pieces of jewelry and where their houses (or huts) were. Here are some pics that I took out there today…very interesting!
These Indians were believed to have been here over 1100 years ago! Before they moved they burned their houses and all contents that they couldn’t/didn’t take with them. There were even pieces from where they traveled from, as there were also parts of shells from oceans that were found (we’re in Missouri).
Like I said, my mom brought her arrowheads so that the one archaeologist that she had talked to last week could look at them and give her some info on. We were SHOCKED to find out that some of them are from 10,000-11,0o0 years ago! She couldn’t believe it and neither could I. Some of them though he did say were fakes so we threw those out. Here are some pics of them looking at them.
It was a crazy hour that we were there. The older kids loved checking things out and wandering around. Little Miss wasn’t having it though. Here’s how she was!
Ugh…at least she was freaking out in style! lol Check out her sparkly shoes and her purse underneath her! lol Can you tell she picked out her own clothes and accessories today? lol
We’re going back next week to see what else they uncover. I’ll update more then!

How cool! I am so fascinated by archaeological digs — requires so much patience.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Please come back soon!
That’s pretty darn cool. I’m not much into history but I would definitely like to happen upon something like that.
What a great experience for you and the kids! I would enjoy that very much myself.
Very cool! My oldest girls would love that they are really into exploring and finding hidden treasures they would have had a blast!
I love to explore the past. I love to visit historical sites. My children, however, don’t always have as much fun as I do.
That’s really neat, and very kind of them to take the time to look and talk to you about your Mom’s arrowheads! Can’t wait for an update!
Do keep us inform my husband & I love native american history. I would love an archaeologist to look at some of our pieces. Sound like a great experience for your family to witness.
That is so cool!
Little Miss is absolutely adorable in her outfit throwing a fit.
