Here’s a bright idea…

light-bulb-2

Get ready for one pissed off post! Let me ask you a question. Have you ever needed a prescription for something? Notice I said ‘neededNOT wanted! Because honestly, who ‘wants’ to take meds? It’s not like they’re happy, energy, make you skinny and model gorgeous miracle pills! Colds, allergies and infections are common prescriptions that you expect to be covered under your insurance. Right? So why…WHY…is it when my kids *need* a prescription for something the insurance company decides that they don’t really need it? Since when did working for an insurance company mean that you were a MD? Umm….hmmm…let me think….oh yeah, it DOESN’T!!!

When we first got this new insurance they decided that my oldest didn’t really *need* her ADD/ADHD meds! Yeah, why would she? She doesn’t really *need* them I guess. NOT! And then my son needed some allergy medication besides Benedryl because that makes him sleepy as all get out and during the day that’s NOT what I need. Well they decided that he didn’t really *need* that one either. They instead wanted him to try a nasal spray. C’mon people…he’s 4! AND during one of his eye surgeries they had to break a bone in his nose to get the tube from the tear duct and sew it into his nose. There is NO way in hell he’s going to let me put anything up his nose! I can barely wipe his nose let alone stick something inside it! Plus with his sensory processing issues….yeah, you get my drift.

So today we took him into the doctor because he’s had a little cold sore for about a month or two. None of us get cold sores so we knew it was nothing normal and nothing from us.  ANYWAY, his school nurse called me the other day and said she thought it looked like classic impetigo. GREAT! So we took him in today and the doctor said, “No, it’s not impetigo it’s just a cold sore that got a little infected from him touching it with dirty hands.” No biggy! He prescribed (note that: the DOCTOR…the one with a M.D. after his name, prescribed) a topical cream to put on his sore 3-5 times a day. So I go to pick it up at Walgreens and guess what??? I bet you can’t guess. Are you on pins and needles to find out what they said? Oh I bet you are! WHAT? You already guessed? Well congrats…you’re right…”DENIED”! AHHHHHHHHHH……..

I am so glad that they know my kids and their conditions better than their DOCTOR. Maybe instead of taking my kids to the DOCTOR I will just start taking them directly to the insurance company and asking them what they think is wrong, what we should do about it and what meds THEY (the insurance company) could prescribe. Oh wait…darn…I forgot…I can’t! Why? Because being an insurance agent/company/asshole/whatever you want to call them DOES NOT AND WILL NEVER make them a DOCTOR!!!!

So here’s a bright idea…if you’re NOT a DOCTOR then stick to what you are! If you’re an insurance person….then stick to insurance instead of telling me what my kids do and don’t need! Thankyousomuch!!!

Ok, enough of my complaining! Vent over! The end. Hope your day was great though! ;)

Insurance companies are awful to deal with. Sometimes I wonder if they joy out of torturing us. Ours just denied a trip to the er, saying it wasn’t life threatening. They definitely got a piece of my mind-and it was resubmitted!

No comment, but feeling your pain and stress after writting off on my taxes over 23,000 of out of pocket expenses for the three of us last year! It is crazy.. that was just our cost, not the stupid ins. co.

What kind of whacked out insurance do you guys have? That’s insane for them to deny all of that. Heck, even when I had an HMO (and you know how awful those are) they even covered ibuproferin prescriptions. (yeah, I got them via script so I wouldn’t have to pay full price OTC).

It’s a pretty good insurance but obviously one that doesn’t want to cover shit! I’m surprised they don’t charge me for the the paper the prescription is written on. lol

Ugh, I am so sorry, that’s just ridiculous!

Just thinking about insurance companies makes my blood boil. We just got sent to collections over a $20 copayment that showed as outstanding yet was paid at the time of the visit. Gotta love it.
