HELP! I need your decorating ideas!

Next week is my oldests birthday and then just four short weeks after that is Little Miss’s birthday. This year we decided that each of them would get a new comforter for their beds since the girls will start sharing a room as soon as the birthdays are over. We got this one for our son.

He loves it!!! We got it super cheap at TJ Maxx and it is very simple and clean. For his room we are just going to paint a dark blue under his chair rail. Simple!

However, the girls’ room needs a total makeover. Right now the walls are a boring white. Blah! We need to add color, fun…pizazz! I just purchased two of these comforters from Wal-Mart.com and can’t wait to give them to the girls.

But this is where I need to your help. I have no idea how I’m going to paint their room. It’s a small room with a large bunk bed but I want to be able to put enough color and possibly even designs on the walls to make it girly and fun but not too dark because I don’t want it to look smaller than it already is.

So tell me, what would you do to their room with these comforters? Dark pink, light pink, hot pink? Maybe some blue or green? I don’t want to do brown unless they’re dots. Should I do an accent wall with a darker shade while the other walls are lighter? HELP!!! I need your decorating ideas asap!

I would just pick one color and do that.. maybe the green that is in the comforter. Then I would get some of the vinyl wall sticker things..in circles that match the colors.. and use those to decorate a wall… I do not think i would do an accent wall.. if I did.. I would pick a light pink maybe. This shop has circles http://www.etsy.com/shop/ITWCT?ga_search_query=ITWCT&ga_search_type=seller_usernames

I would do the light blue or and green for the paint, then you can get the chalk board dots (target- peal and stick no wall damage) and some of the flower shaped cork board or magnet boards (sold at walmart) for shapes and color. I have seen them in pink and purple both. I have also seen wall stencils at target that would go very well, just take a pillow case or a comforter with you to make sure.

Walmart should have the curtains or a valance to match those comforters too. Dont foget the funky colored lamps there too they can add some pop as can bean bag chairs or the soft sculpted chairs found at WM and Target both, kind of L shaped with no legs. There is always rugs too in flower shapes or solid shags.

I think Shellie gave you some great ideas. If you need storage, Target has plastic storage systems called IPSO (I think) that come in different colors. They have light green and pink bins. My oldest as the system with white shelving and dark blue bins.

    Shellie said it all! LOL

But if you still want to add a girly girl touch to it, get large cheap picture frames and make collages with magazines, old books (things like that – with princesses or whatever they are into) and paste to construction paper (or heavy paper) that matches the bedding. And type out and print their name with Photoshop or Paint (or w/e) to add to the picture too!

I would go with what Shellie said. Otherwise if you wanted to get REALLY crazy you could try to duplicate the comforter pattern on the wall but that would take a long time (I’ve painted giant murals and it makes your arm want to fall off)…

I was going to pretty well say the same thing Shellie did. Maybe the light green or blue. Then try and find some circles in the colors that are in the quilt. Maybe do a border around the way with them . A nice little rug would be nice to
