First Communion Day

fc-5

This past weekend was my daughter’s First Communion! She was very nervous but also excited! When I asked her why she was so nervous she said, “Mama, what if when I go to drink the wine the host (bread)  falls out of my mouth?” lol So we talked about what to do and how to do it and why it was such a special day. We’ve had that talk about a gazillion times but one more didn’t hurt.

So Saturday morning we got up, got breakfast and got ready to go to get her hair and nails done. I was popping pills like candy because I woke up with a migraine from hell! She got her hair done and got a french manicure…she was so happy! I had dressed the little ones in their church clothes so that when we got home they would be able to eat a fast, non messy lunch and head in for naps and then wake all ready to go. HA! That didn’t go so well. My son spilled RED kool-aid all over his nice shirt and sweater vest. Ahhh…so off to the laundry. Then I get a call from my husband, “Why didn’t you tell me that the dry cleaners only accepts cash or check? I can’t pick up my shirt!” Freakin GREAT! So put laundry in, lay kids down for naps,  find keys, head off to dry cleaners. Got it! Get home, lay out hubby’s clothes b/c God knows he can’t do that by himself. Get my daughter ready, get myself ready, get the kids up from naps, get son redressed, take  couple shots of my daughter in the front yard and get to church.

We get there…only 3 minutes late. Get inside and realize I forgot my camera in the car. PERFECT! Get in line and then realize that my husband is supposed to be in line with us to sit with all the parents and also that I still had the diaper bag on *my* arm when my hubs and mom had the baby. Grr…get my mom’s attention from the back of church while in line. Get her to take the diaper bag and tell my husband to come back with us. Finally the drama is over! YAY!

As we sat through the service I kept having flash backs of her birth, her baptism, her first birthday. And now she is 8 years old and receiving her First Communion! It was such a special day! And guess what? She didn’t drop the host out of her mouth when she received the wine! lol ;) Her party went great and the rest of the day was so blessed. Here are some pics of her on her very special First Communion Day!

Sounds a little hectic. I am glad it all came together, though. I don’t see many other Catholics in bloggy land. Not sure why.

You all looked lovely. Congrats to your little girl. :)
