My oldest is having her First Communion this year. It’s such a huge milestone in our church and faith and I’m so excited that she is going to be able to start celebrating our Lord every weekend in such a beautiful way with me. And she is excited too! Not only for the gorgeous dress she gets to wear, gifts she gets, party on it’s way, hair and beauty appointment, veil she gets to wear, but she’s also excited to become closer to our Lord. Guess I’m doing something right, huh?
She picked her patron saint last night. She choose St. Frances Cabrini who is the patron saint of immigrants. Her father is originally from Mexico so we both thought it was very fitting.
So for the mass that day the kids were supposed to make banners. Well some parents are complete control freaks like me. I decided to take over and make it into a keepsake because you *know* I need more keepsakes for my children! lol Well I decided that since my kids are 1/2 Irish, 1/4 Aztec and 1/4 Native American (Cherokee) that I would make a Celtic cross to go on her banner. I also wanted it to be embroidered and since a friend of mine does embroidery I asked her to help me. I think it turned out beautiful so I thought I’d share it with you all!
It took me a while to get the cross exactly the way I wanted it, especially with three different types and colors of fabric. There was a lot of cutting and measuring involved but it ended up turning out better than I had expected. And the best part…she LOVES it and it will be a keepsake that we can keep forever!

It looks beautiful!
