Ok so now onto Part 2 in the Dr. Hippo’s Children’s Books Giveaway! Two winners were picked for Katie Caught a Cold and Sadie’s Sore Throat so the next two books up for grabs are The Moose With Loose Poops and The Little Elephant With the Big Earache.

The Dr. Hippo books were written by Pediatrician Dr. Charlotte Cowan. These books are so very colorful and cheery! Enough to make your sick little one forget about how he’s feeling for a little bit. They explain in kid friendly detail what’s going on with their body and how pretty soon they’ll be feeling like themselves again. My kids love these books even when they’re not sick! lol These are great books for healthy kids who feel sick!
Plus in the back of each book is a Parent’s Guide to explain in adult friendly detail what’s going on with your child, how to help him or her feel better and when to call the doctor.
Check out the Hippocratic Press site and see all the amazing books they offer. And they even have a Dr. Hippo blog where you can get your questions answered by Dr. Cowan herself!

I learned that American children have 6-10 colds each year. These cause over 22 million lost days of school annually.

I learned that Dr. Cowan worked as a social worker w/emotional disturbed children.
I like Katie Caught a Cold.

I like the Moose With Loose Poops because it addresses an issue that is so common with little kids but I’ve never seen anything written for them about it!

Because not all parents in America read English well, Dr. Cowan has matched the illustrations of her stories to the questions and answers in her “Parent Guides,” which are included with her books.

I learned that Sadie is a giraffe.
I am a subscriber.
I learned that Dr. Cowan’s stories are written for children (and their parents to read TO them) and thereby underscores the national literacy campaign. In the creation of such warm associations with reading is the beginning of literacy: a child who is read to by a concerned parent—and who is reassured by that reading—will develop into someone who loves to read!
My favorite would have to be Peeper Has a Fever. My kids are always experiencing mystery fevers that appear and then go away after a day.

Dr. Cowan had a very busy practice in MA !!
A board certified pediatrician, Dr. Cowan worked with parents and their children for many years before leaving her busy practice at the MassGeneral Hospital for Children in Boston. She knows childhood inside out, and she has taken care of children both when they have been sick and when they have been well—but stumbling over developmental issues.
