Last week a girlfriend of mine told me that she had a virus on her computer and after they went in trying to recover everything they found that she had lost every single photo they had on their computer. She has 3 kids and all the pics from their births, first steps, baptism, first birthdays up until two weeks ago were completely wiped out! She has been absolutely sick over this!
Then I received an email from my sister about a huge virus that is working its way around the internet. Please read this and copy and paste it into emails and send to everyone in your address book! This has been verified by Snopes and Norton Anti Virus.

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled ‘POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,’regardless of who sent it to you… It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which ‘burns’ the whole hard disc C drive of your computer.
This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address on his/her contact list. That is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it!
If you receive a mail called’ POSTCARD,’ even if it is sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN.
It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

I am sort of careless with my surfing, I am cautious but if my computer gets a virus it’s not as big of a deal to me since I have grown in the habit of having my husband be my IT type dude. We run all our important files on a home server hubs set it up secure and so nothing important is ever left on my computer.
Thanks for the advance notice! I use Picasa and would be devastated if I lost my photos! But I backup to CD and on a portable HD when I remember! (Must do…NOW!)

Thanks for the headz up. I really hope they get to a place where they can prosecute the individuals that do this. It costs a lot of time and money and therefore should be considered a felony.
I heard about that one a while back. I have gotten several of them, but deleted them without opening. I even warned my husband.
