Carpet is done!

This has been the one thing that has made me crazy since we moved into this house. I’ve wanted to change it since…oh well the first time we walked in the door to look at this house. But as always, things happen, money disappears, jobs change, I get knocked up, kid is born, money goes out faster than it came in, another kid is born and so on.

So now, six years after moving in we finally have new carpet. And let me tell ya, I’ll never do this again! EVER! I really wish someone had told me what a pain in the ass this was going to be. Ok well, my mom did but I still like to act like I’m 14 and think my mom doesn’t know anything. (Sorry mom…you know I love you! ) I like to learn everything through experience.

So we had to pack up everything; closets, movies, kids toys, books, everything! Over the 10 years that hubby and I have been married we’ve accumulated enough crap to fill 20 houses. Will someone please sign me up for the new reality show Hoarders? I didn’t think we’d ever finish packing. And when I say we, I mean me. My parents were kind enough to help me move stuff to our basement and get last minute stuff in boxes. Without them I’d still be packing and the carpet wouldn’t be done.

And just to make my life more interesting and fun I decided that I would paint the girls room.

And my sons room.

And the doors….all of them.

I will say though that painting rooms and doors without having to worry about spilling or dripping paint is pretty nice!

I was in so much pain. I got to meet some muscles that I didn’t even know existed. Yeah, we’re not so friendly anymore. But after a lot of Advil we’re feeling better.

So onto the carpet. It’s done and looks fantastic. Sometimes I forget we got it until I walk into the room and feel the lovely cushion under my feet. The softness is wonderful and the squeaky floors are gone. Well…most of them anyway. And the best part? It’s CLEAN!

You can clearly see the water, juice and slushy stains compliments of my lovely children!

After it was steam cleaned with my Hoover Steam Cleaner…

Ok you get the idea. It looks fab! So anyway, just wanted to share my new carpet with y’all. I’m so excited and it has been a long ass time coming! YAY ME! I’ll update more later with some pics when I get everything unpacked and set up. It may take me another six years though! lol I still have to decorate, finish painting the girls room, get the frames and box springs set up in the girls room and so much more. I can’t wait for it all to be done.

Next project…painting the kitchen, living room and hallway, purchasing, painting and installing new baseboards and completely redoing our bathroom. Anyone wanna help?
