Do you ever have one of those days when you feel like you’re being punked and your 4 year old is totally and completely in on it? That he’s actually the one that made the phone call?
Son: ‘Hey Ashton, I need to punk my mom! Have any good ideas that would make her go crazy?’
Ashton: ‘Sure dude, I can give ya enough for an entire day!’
So he started out ok this morning. Sweet hugs, lots of ‘I love you’s and ‘mommy one more book’ and played quietly (for a while). Then it was like his inner Tasmanian devil escaped and he started doing things he knew were not ok.
Example 1: Getting apples out of the fridge and playing softball with them. NOT COOL!
Example 2: Bringing his breakfast into *my* room and making a mess with it. All.over.my.bed!Grr….
Example 3: Five words….did.not.take.his.nap! (that should explain the rest of the day but…it doesn’t!)
Example 4: Gets up from ‘nap’, digs into the candy corn and makes a mess while giving himself a sugar high. Did you know that kids can make candy corn disappear faster than a bolt of lightning? You hear the chair slide across the floor and before you can reach them they have already consumed enough candy to put a horse into a diabetic coma. Sooo not cool!
Example 5: He hears the baby is awake so he decides (since I’m not in seeing distance) that he is going to take her some candy corn while she is in her crib….again! Ahhh…are you kidding me? Not just that though, but remember, he didn’t take his nap so he was the reason the baby only got about an hour nap before going into her room to wake her up fully. Damn!
Example 6 And this is the kicker!) I get everyone dinner, get the two little ones in the bath. Get the baby out of the bath and get her diaper on, jammies on, hair combed and she is ready for bed. He says he wants five more minutes to play. ‘Fine. 5 minutes and then you’re getting ready for bed.’
I sit down to relax for those 5 minutes and rock the baby.
Baby gets up and walks around for a minute.
Then I hear it.
Yelling! ‘Mom, Little Miss is in the tub!!!’
CRAP!
Me: “How did she get in there?” Because I knew that if she had climbed in on her own she would have fallen in and not just been sitting there like she was.
Son: “Uhh…uh…she climbed in.”
Me: “Really? Hmm…that’s pretty amazing considering that she is sitting there in shock and dry from the waist up.” (Except for her hair since I had just washed it.) “How did she really get in?”
Son: “Uhh…uh….I put her in with me so we could play.”
Bingo!
To make it all worse you can see her little pink elephant sitting next to her, right? Yep! That’s her “baby” and goes everywhere with her and yes, I do mean everywhere. She can’t do anything without this baby, especially sleep. Great seeing as how she was literally 2 minutes from getting into bed all nice and clean…and oh yeah, DRY!
Did you know that those little Gund animals can soak up water faster than a sponge? She was only in the water about 15 seconds and that baby was S-O-A-K-E-D! It took a half hour to dry and she screamed the entire time.
Finally got it dry and everyone is in bed….asleep! So now it’s my favorite time of the day….now it’s mommy’s quiet time! But I’m still waiting for Ashton to walk through my door and tell me that I’ve just been punked. Sadly, however, I do not see that happening. I do hope though that tomorrow is a better day.
Oh…they joys of motherhood! lol

ROFL sorry but that picture KILLED ME.
I’m sorry you had a sucky day…but you can rest assured that you help me realize that mine wasn’t as bad as I thought it was LOL.
I’m sorry you had a rough day hun. But in a few days, well okay maybe a few years you will look at this picture and laugh. Hope your day tomorrow is better! Hugs
I know it may not have been funny at the time, but, a day later, a little funny? I would have unhappy, especially after the kind of day you described, but I can’t help but laugh at that picture. She’s in total shock, poor baby.
I’m sorry you had such a rough day, but sometime down the road, this will be funny, I promise.

Two words. Vodka. (For you) Okay, maybe Vodka is only one word. But still. That’s one of those days where nothing but a frozen shot of Vodka will do. Heh.

Oh I’m dying laughing over here. But not at you, with you honey because that is the same thing my son would pull with Kaydee.
These are the times that try mommies’ souls, but when we are old and whizzened are the ones that we will truely treasure.
